AOS is taking extra long time

The progress update topics I'm following have been very quiet lately, so I figured I'd create my own topic to ask a question, since this way - more people will most likely see it.

 

I believe my case is taking a very long time.

It’s been 280+ days since my I-485 PD. And judging by other people’s timelines in the same state as I am, who already had their interviews but whose PDs are a month or even two months behind mine, it’s not just my local office being slow. It feels like it’s just my case. 

I submitted SR in February. On my case page online, it says that my SR has been completed on April 27^th, and the response has been sent to me. Needless to say, it’s June, and I have nothing in the mail from them. 

I made an infopass appointment in my local office for June 20^th. According to USCIS processing times, the latest case they will be reviewing as of June 15^th will already be past my PD.

My concern with infopass appointment, however, is that I think that my case is still in NVC in Missouri, and not in my local field office, so I’m not sure how much information I will be able to get from them (I’ll try regardless, of course). 

 

Now my main question is this: do you think I should contact my congressman? If so, should I do it prior to my infopass? My husband told me to do it, since he believes it won’t hurt in any case, but I’m not actually sure whether it will or it won’t. 

 

Don’t misunderstand me, I know some wait longer than that, but I don’t want to just wait, if there’s anything that can be done. Especially seeing how people who filed few months after me already have their GCs. I’m not in too much hurry to get my GC, however, my dad is 87, and inevitable things happen unfortunately. I would be devastated is anything happened, and I wasn’t able to go back to see him.

 

Any advice is much appreciated!

Everything is going at a much slower rate than usual. I just did my N400 and it took approx 8 months from start to finish whereas people who had filed before this crazy time were able to complete their processes within 3-4 months.

 

However if you do believe that people who filed after you already had their interviews and they are from the same FO as yours then I definitely suggest to contact your Congressman. The same thing happened to me when people got their Oaths before me despite the fact that they filed after. I had contacted our State Senator and shortly after I received my Oath. 

 

SR doesn't work. I also submitted a SR regarding my oath letter. The online status said they completed working on my request and sent the response to me on April 21 but I just received it 1 week ago. And in the response, they were telling me that my case was pending for oath scheduling yet I already became a USC on May 9. 

 

So yeah, definitely call your Congressman and ask for help. Good luck.

It's very common that AOS takes a year or a little over a year. You're perfectly fine, you just need to wait a few more months (or days/weeks if you're lucky).

Did you receive the response to your SR via regular mail?

 

Scandi, I understand that, of course. I've heard of people waiting for two years. However, as I mentioned at the bottom of my post, I'd rather do something about it if I can, especially since I may not have few months (refer to my father's age).

They sent it via email. It would have been more understandable if they had sent it regular mail.

Wow! Over a month to receive an email - that must be a record 

Makes you wonder whether they did it on purpose after you already took your Oath....

I didn't. I had an overstay, so there was no point in getting an AP for me - I wouldn't be allowed back in the US regardless.
