I'm filing a K-1 visa application. My passport has a four year validity. Will they reject me based on that?

You're filing the I-129f petition I'm assuming you mean... Also, the USC's passport does not matter as to remaining validity.

The beneficiary is recommended to have at least 6-12 months validity left at time of interview for the K-1; most I think renew theirs during the I-129f processing.

Perhaps they changed it. For me, the USC, I had 6 years left on my passport but also supplied my birth certificate. I would supply both.

My partner renewed his passport during the processing of the petition for a new 10 year Philippines passport.

Five years total, not necessarily five years remaining.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

It means it has to be a standard passport, not a temporary or emergency passport.

Are you the US citizen/petitioner or the foreign fiance? If you're the US citizen then you can also provide your birth certificate to show citizenship. My fiance doesn't even have his passport yet and we filed our K1 application 2 months ago. He's had trouble obtaining the required birth documents for a passport and he works insane hours so it's hard to get to the passport office. We decided to apply anyway because I couldn't find anything about the beneficiary passport requirements as part of the K1 application. He's getting it this month so he should have it before we even get our NOA2. But I swear if we get denied/RFE for some reason because he doesn't have his passport then my fiance knows he will never hear the end of it. :D

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

Don't worry. The beneficiary's passport information is only needed once he or she applies for the K1 visa at the foreign embassy (fills out form ds160).

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.
