Expat income on I-864, can include if continues?

I'm working on the I-864 for my spouse's IR1 visa and have a question about "my current annual household income". I've been working for a company in Thailand whose US branch is going to continue to employ me when we move to the US. I understand that foreign earned income normally can't be counted in "current annual household income" on the basis that it won't continue in the US. In my case, it will continue in the US and it will no longer be foreign earned.

 

Any thoughts on whether I can include my foreign earned income in my current annual household income?

Generally yes you can if you can include a letter from the employer stating you will still be employed and what your salary will be.

One other question.  Have you been filing US tax returns as required for a US Citizen abroad? 
Even though there is an exclusion of over $100k in income (I don't know the current amount), you are still supposed to file tax returns

You will need to provide the CO with a letter from the US branch confirming your appointment with them and stating the income. 

 

As for taxes, yes, even if you fall below the 100K you still need to file and add the 2555 form.
