Hoping all goes well with your preliminary work! Police clearance - is that something required with the Philippines?

Actually, it is a US requirement for the visa!  A police clearance for any country you have lived in for more than 6 months since the age of 16!  That would include Sweden in your case.

In my case, the kids (17 and 14) have never seen snow.  Christmas is so romantic and seeing their eyes while they experience their first white Christmas would be something that I would hold dear and take to my grave.  On the other hand, they also have never seen boots, winter coats, gloves, winter hats....I think we will need to do some shopping!!!  I will tell them not to wear shorts on the plane!

One advantage I have over you is that flights to Asia are really quite cheap.  This one I got round trip for $525.  I have seen it as low as $299!

Ah! I had not heard it actually referred to as "police clearance". My fiancé has already requested his info. He's actually lived in the states before (long before we met, unfortunately) so he has to get info from Sweden and the US.

That's so exciting! I certainly hope they are able to have their first white Christmas this year. :) Of course there is always the years to come - I have a hard time remembering that sometimes, lol. I'm always like, "I want this to be our last Christmas together, or birthday/Thanksgiving/etc.", even though we will have a lifetime of them. But that doesn't change the wishes we have now. Speaking of; my fiancé is so excited to have Thanksgiving again! He hasn't experienced once since he lived in Seattle, which was years ago. And he's never experienced a Southern Thanksgiving, which is almost an entirely separate entity, haha. :P

Oh man, I wish our tickets were that cheap! Well, to be fair - his tickets to come here from Sweden are WAY cheaper than mine to go there. I think the cheapest one he's had was around $500, and the most expensive one he's had was around $700. Which isn't that bad. But for me to go there (unless I want it to be a 40 hour trip with a million layovers) is about $1000. To go during the holidays was closer to 2k, which is why I've not been with him during the holidays since we've been together (he's a chef, so he's busiest during the holiday season and can't be away from work to come here). So our fingers are still crossed! But we shall see.

I was looking through the recent approved members (it gives me hope and positivity to remind myself people have and do actually get through this thing!) and came across a couple that were approved today. They filed in March, got their NOA2 last month; then, the next packet that comes was received and returned beginning of August, and their interview was today, which they were approved on the spot. Obviously everything is case by case and no two cases are identical, but seeing such progressive outcomes like that are super inspiring and encouraging. They were certainly determined and prepared people, which I am inspiring to be. :D

Håll ut, y'all.

I am leaving in two days to visit my fiancee.  The waiting is so stressful.  We need some time together to just relax and see that the end justifies the means.  Right now my estimate is Oct 18.  It was Oct 15 last week...

Thank you.  I will do that.  I was hoping for a nice relaxing chance to really spend some time getting to know her kids better...oh well.  It ends up that her sisters are flying in to meet me.  One is in London and the other is in Korea.  So my nice relaxed intimate family time is now traveling to resorts and full of a very hectic schedule.  Parties and meals and the wonderful Filipino tradition that says I pay for everything!!!  LOL  Her family is great so I am looking forward to a very interesting time with great food, great drinks, singing, laughter and love...just very little rest and family time with the kids.

Move never been so depressed in my life. How are people preparing for the next steps after they get their NOA2?

Just study up here. Find out what paperwork you will need. Get the police certificates in order. Come here to vent. We are all in the same boat. It does help to know that a lot of other people from all over the world feel the same as you do. We are all a big family here. It really does feel good when someone that you have been chatting with gets their NOA2. Just relax and get all the paperwork in order to makes things move much quicker once the embassy receives your file!

So we will receive our NOA2 on November then..hahahhah...gush!

I truly hope your journey goes faster than mine.

When I began the process....the average time between a NOA1 and NOA2 was 60 - 70 days. If I had had an idea at the beginning of all of this it was more realistic to think 140 days it would have saved me A LOT of frustration.

So yes....some people get their visas within 6 months...

But the reality of this is....it is taking 8 to 9 months  (there are still January and February filers waiting for the NOA2)

I wish all of the filers the very best and a fast journey to the one they love.

We should start working on this now? It's not too early? I want her to do as much as she can now so we're as ready to go as we can be when NOA2 time is here

I would start ASAP.  If you need it from other countries sometime the lead times are lengthy.  Most are good for 6 months so I say go get it done.
