I will hopefully have about 10-15 friends and family members flying from the U.K which I am thankful for. The wedding will be for 200+ guests.

Its one of the sacrifices I am willing to make, and my fiancé and his family are doing everything to make sure it will be perfect for me and my British guests.

I personally feel that only the most important people in my life are attending anyway. 😉

Thank you for sharing that.

Your future wedding sounds amazing!

i also agree with you, Having just him and I.. and oh, the witness too would suffice. I just have this feeling of sadness when i think about missing my fam, and how it would take a few years of saving up before i could see them and plan another wedding with them.

Oh well, i think i should focus on getting my Noa2 soon before i start thinking of these things.

Awesome pic.  How comfortable is that outfit?

I promise to put up the filipino style as soon as I can.  I will be there next week so I want a big family picture.

It was quite comfortable, very spacious.

Only problem is the Cambodia is HOTHOTHOT, so you feel like wearing shorts instead. We changed as well so had 2 Cambodian outfits. On the wedding days (yes can be 3 days) it is traditional to have 10 or so dresses for the bride. Always changing and photos!

I think I will pass on the 3 day wedding though ;)

I have been super blessed by the provision for my wedding. The venue my fiance' and I are looking at is in a small community near my hometown is rural Alabama. It only costs about $50 to rent to locals. I know, that's crazy cheap!! I purchased my dress back in May when David's Bridal had a semi-annual sale going on. I paid $120 for it. My sister is super crafty and loves to plan, so she has been in charge of decorating and flowers. All of the flowers are fake and from Hobby Lobby. They have great sales all the time! We have hit up Target and Dollar Tree for small tea light candles, vases, and smaller decor for center pieces. My cousin is in school to be a photographer and has offered to do our wedding pics for free if she can use them in her portfolio. As for the reception and cake, the ladies of my home church in Alabama are doing all the food. I think I have spent less than $500 for our wedding. The only things that we haven't covered are rings, my fiance's suit (he doesn't want to wear the traditional Filipino barong), and wedding invitations. I just finished the guest list this weekend. We have about 200+ guests on the list. I highly doubt everyone will show, especially since they are from out of state.

Our day will be simple and sweet

Congratulations @Ay Pe:wub:

With all the talk about weddings and all, I’d like to ask the beneficiaries of this June forum as to how they feel about marrying outside of their countries, with no family whatsoever to witness one of the best days of their lives.

I’m asking because our plans are similar to most of y’all. Simple civil wedding, A few attendees, all from the Petitioner’s side.

It kinda pains me to think about not seeing any family member on my special day, All i know is i have to be strong for the both of us, and all hardships are temporary.

Thanks, and congratulations to the lucky winner of the day!

This is another reason I want to keep it small.

I lost my Dad on this date in 2008. Medical neglect. I have no one to give me away. My mum will not get on a plane after getting really sick and having to be fitted with a stoma bag. Almost lost her after the operation too. 😣 She cannot even travel to her local supermarket 10 mins up the road because of her condition.

I have no family that can attend. I'd rather the small thing and his closest/immediate family there. I don't know how I would feel being surrounded by his entire family (he has HUGE family). No father of the bride and bride dance, no speeches about protecting their little girl, no silly/embarrassing stories...

Ugh. I'm actually crying over it. E's been super awesome about it and respectful of my wishes and situation.

I really hope you all have the dream weddings you want. How ever you do yours, may that happiness be forever lasting and you have the time of your lives. 💜

Hang in there, everyone. It's almost your time. 💜

Hahaha! No Sir no maam no green eggs and ham! Not doing it lols.

Me and the Partner in crime though are really clueless with planning everything out. He kinda thought i might be one of those girls who had a scrapbook at 11 with her dream wedding all planned out. Heck, i didn’t even know what i wanted to be at 11. Maybe.. a cashier or a toaster.

Right now all we have planned is,

1) Get approval

2) Buy ticket

3) Get hitched

4) Go get a burger.. or something

Doesn’t sound bad to me honestly...

and oh, Hi Ed! I wish i could bring my 5 Cat overlords too. But i guess, we can just adopt again in a shelter near our new home. tenor.gif?itemid=5756839

Sounds like an awesome plan. Burger wise - I want chic fil a lol

They don't have them in Canada

With how stressful and expensive this has all worked out and the dates are constantly changing, we cannot fix anything for a big ceremony. Hats off to those leaving things like tasting etc to the in laws. I'm a wedding photographer and I know how messy and stressful planning a wedding is. Nope. Not doing that from 3624 miles away. Nope. Nooooo sir! He would get the wrong bloody flowers or a cake I don't like 😂

We have opted for the courthouse option too with a meal or something for after with close family. March 4th is a significant day to us (a bloody Sunday next year) so we'll wait for 2019 for a bigger thing. The only thing we are doing is getting meteorite wedding bands as we have a star alignment story to our meeting. Deep space, stars, and nebula being our thing. Other than that... Courthouse, in, "I do", out, meal, consummate. 😂 Depending on the size of the steak. Mmmm... Steak. 🤤 Done.

To be honest, we want to put our dollars together and buy our first home together. That seems more important. Me, him, and Ed. (My cat). Home. Warm and cozy home. 😻

Omg we wanted March 4th. His bday is the 5th and mine the 6th. We wanted yearly celebrations to be all together.

We met in person on March 3rd.

Wanted the day after so we could March 4th together into forever.

Couple of questions for the community:

1) What is the fastest way to find out you are approved? Text/Email alert or are you logging on USCIS and see your case? I am signed up for all, just wondering if I am wasting my time by logging in USCIS all of the time.

2) Anybody else get prompted every few days on the USCIS website they are locked out and need to reset password? Happened to me a few times however not sure why, I store my passwords so I assume a system error the rest of you also may face.

Every time I log on it tells me I'm locked out - it's ridiculous.

FWIW, we are likely to keep my side small and have the wedding at a time where skyping her relatives back home from an iPad on this side and them gathered around computers and phones on that side is feasible. Not ideal, but it let's them "participate" to some degree.

A live broadcast actually sounds like a good idea. B-)

We will be saving quite a bit on the wedding, as my fiancé and his family know a lot of people and they are happy to see my fiancé finally find love. I already have my dress, friends I have showed it to think that I have I paid over £7k for it when it was only less than £400.

We are hiring a ballroom, and we are using our own caterer who only charge to make and serve the food. My fiancé’s mum constantly sends me pictures and has arranged a sweet table, the cake, the person who will be decorating the hall, the DJ, and the flowers. They have annual family events and parties. They know I’m a little bougie (lol) so know What I like. His mum has been amazing at sticking well below budget. She keeps telling me “we do these things all the time, trust me, I got you!”

Bless her. She is paying for half, we just have to sort the liquor, outfits (bridesmaids and groomsmen will be paying for their own), and the photographer and videographer.

as much as I’m excited, I also can’t wait until it’s over lol. If it was down to me, we would have 50 top 100 guests, but he wants everyone to witness it. 🙄

I’m so sorry to hear this.

My dad is alive and stopped talking to me after I asked him to open my Nans will (which he refused as I’m named in it)..

I have always stated that my brother will give me away as my dad attempted to have a relationship with me when I was 16, but with a new girlfriend in his life, I was forgotten about.

Im sure that you’re dad will still be there spiritually.

Yikes. I'm so sorry. :( Family can be weird and spiteful. My stepmum has kept EVERYTHING hush hush. Got a hefty payout... Myself and my sister (from his first marriage) have not seen a penny nor do we know what caused his death. Karma. Good old karma will come around.

I really hope everything goes well for you. 💜 Really happy you have someone to give you away. 💜💜

I totally agree. I too believe in karma. Deffo best to leave them to it.

As my mum says, and I will give you her advice.... you have too much good going on for you right now. Focus on that.

I’m sure your day will be perfect for the both of you 😊😌
