Couple of questions for the community:

1) What is the fastest way to find out you are approved? Text/Email alert or are you logging on USCIS and see your case? I am signed up for all, just wondering if I am wasting my time by logging in USCIS all of the time.

2) Anybody else get prompted every few days on the USCIS website they are locked out and need to reset password? Happened to me a few times however not sure why, I store my passwords so I assume a system error the rest of you also may face.

@INNSU09 Hate it, even though I never dreamt of a big wedding. His parents are not in good health to travel and it upsets me that they won't be there.

Ironically, both of our parents were married in the same church in London, four years apart in the1960's. You just can't make it up! I have spoken to the Rector and we will try and get a blessing there when I'm released from the US on AP!

With all the talk about weddings and all, I’d like to ask the beneficiaries of this June forum as to how they feel about marrying outside of their countries, with no family whatsoever to witness one of the best days of their lives.

I’m asking because our plans are similar to most of y’all. Simple civil wedding, A few attendees, all from the Petitioner’s side.

It kinda pains me to think about not seeing any family member on my special day, All i know is i have to be strong for the both of us, and all hardships are temporary.

I am lucky because my future asawa is bringing her kids with and she has close friends who are already in the states.  As the petitioner, I am very aware and humbled by the fact that they are willing to leave their lives, families and friends to move half way around the world to a foreign land.  I am so aware of that sacrifice that it makes me feel sad at times.  I want to do everything possible so Rose, AJ and Aira are comfortable here.  I am going to fly some friends and relatives (already in the US) in for the wedding so she has loved ones around here.  She may even have more people there than I will!

I am shopping for a Barong (traditional filipino shirt) on my trip next week.  I love Rose's culture and I want to keep as much of it alive in the US as possible.  I am bigger than most filipinos so I am hoping I can find a barong that fits...

Check it out from engagement, I actually was still swollen in my face from surgery after moto accident but we look good anyway haha  B-)  :

I'm looking forward to this answer too.  Right now I am trying to only check my status every 30 minutes but it seems more like every 2!  I did get locked out once because I exceeded the limit in the searches.  I believe it is 2000???  So 4 searched of 500 locks me out.  I'm not completely sure of the number but I was able to turn off wifi and do more searches via LTE.  It must lock out the IP.

I am wondering if I will see the approval (at least I hope it is an approval) first by refreshing my status in the app or via text.  Only time will tell.

I think only those who have been approved can answer this question.

Awesome pic.  How comfortable is that outfit?

I promise to put up the filipino style as soon as I can.  I will be there next week so I want a big family picture.

I will hopefully have about 10-15 friends and family members flying from the U.K which I am thankful for. The wedding will be for 200+ guests.

Its one of the sacrifices I am willing to make, and my fiancé and his family are doing everything to make sure it will be perfect for me and my British guests.

I personally feel that only the most important people in my life are attending anyway. 😉

I never dreamt of a big and extravagant wedding either.. Heck, i don’t think i’ve ever dreamt of being married, I’m a bit of a cynical dork.. but here i am now, in VJ, all anxious and lost. :jest:

About the similar church though.. coincidence? I think NOT. It’s definitely a sign, and an amazing one at that!

Reminds me of that freaky time my Fiance showed me a talisman his mother gave him years before we met. It was supposed to help him find his lost love, it had weird markings and had SS at the bottom.

Ironically as well, SS are my initials.

Or.. maybe that’s just me being a dumb conspiracy theorist and it just really means soggy socks.

anyway, thanks for sharing that!

I’m just hoping for another chance to remarry him in the philippines with my crazy bunch present.

With how stressful and expensive this has all worked out and the dates are constantly changing, we cannot fix anything for a big ceremony. Hats off to those leaving things like tasting etc to the in laws. I'm a wedding photographer and I know how messy and stressful planning a wedding is. Nope. Not doing that from 3624 miles away. Nope. Nooooo sir! He would get the wrong bloody flowers or a cake I don't like 😂

We have opted for the courthouse option too with a meal or something for after with close family. March 4th is a significant day to us (a bloody Sunday next year) so we'll wait for 2019 for a bigger thing. The only thing we are doing is getting meteorite wedding bands as we have a star alignment story to our meeting. Deep space, stars, and nebula being our thing. Other than that... Courthouse, in, "I do", out, meal, consummate. 😂 Depending on the size of the steak. Mmmm... Steak. 🤤 Done.

To be honest, we want to put our dollars together and buy our first home together. That seems more important. Me, him, and Ed. (My cat). Home. Warm and cozy home. 😻

Lucky, Both of you!

I have friends & relatives in the US ( like.. well, filipinos are EVERYWHERE lol ) but i don’t think they will be very eager to come see us as,

1) the friends i have are all tight on a budget, working atleast 2 jobs and sending most of their money back in the Ph

2) the relatives i have are distant, in literal sense as they all live from farther states, and distant when it comes to being “family” .. i don’t think they even know i exist. Haha.

Anyway, I’m happy you see it that way and feel that way. My fiance shares the same sentiments, but as much as we are blessed in a lot of things, blessed financially isn’t one of them. :jest:

Thanks for answering!

FWIW, we are likely to keep my side small and have the wedding at a time where skyping her relatives back home from an iPad on this side and them gathered around computers and phones on that side is feasible. Not ideal, but it let's them "participate" to some degree.

Good point about the live broadcast. The venue that we are looking at offers this service. We will be using it for the family who can't travel, but not sure about giving access to those friends who haven't been invited yet. It's like a kick in the teeth - Hey, we didn't invite you but you can watch online. Some people apparently take huge offence to it.
