At this point, I kind of feel like it's good decision that me and my fiancée did not plan the wedding ceremony yet. We've decided to get married at a courthouse then have the ceremony in spring of 2018. I guess we'd have to move it 'til early fall now. :unsure:

These are arguments from 1-2 days ago. We've all tried to bring positivity back here - no need to feed the arguments.

I'm not arguing. I agree with you. This has been a really positive group with the exception of DandY who harasses people and brings negativity. People are already frustrated by the long process, there's no need to add to this by intentionally targeting people the way he is. He has been asked before to let it go but hasn't got the message yet. I hope we can all get beyond "being right" and be supportive again.

Best of luck to everyone and please be careful about deposits for weddings and receptions. Don't add that deadline stress to your lives. We have decided for a justice of the peace wedding and a big reception after we get settled. That way we have time to plan and be able to do it in a relaxed and confident way.

Let those NOA2 start to rain...It is 7:14 am in California and the adjudicators are awake, drinking coffee and getting ready for a huge day!

After reading horror stories of lost money we decided best to do a courthouse wedding and same as you, a reception when things are settled. A lot less stress for us and Lord knows the less stress at this point the better.

The stories here are what changed our minds. Once we made that decision, a huge weight was lifted. It honestly felt different. The weight was gone and the cloud disappeared. In the end, we will be married and we will have a big reception.

Second, great to wake up to wedding "horror stories". :wacko:

When I lost my wallet once, I got really uncomfortable because I had my social security card in it, so I panicked and called SS service to report the problem. Gentleman took my info, and gave me a wise "line" that I never forgot, and have used many times since - "a plane crashed, and everyone heard about it, but other 10000 flights landed the same day, just as many did day before, and will day after, but nobody ever hears about that". Conclusion is the same here, as it applies here, we have 350+ members on VJ per month. How many "horror" stories have you heard of?

Care for a heart attack? Ulcer? Stroke perhaps? Keep stressing ...

We are probably going to go this route as well.

I want to be calm when I'm picking out my flowers, not worrying about a deadline.

We went through so many nerve wrecking emotions because of the distance, meeting each other's families, and the K1 process that it will be nice to just not be on edge anymore.

Point well taken. These should be classified as "Lessons Learned" instead of horror stories. Even the worse case scenario that lost money did get married and are hopefully happy.

As a lessons learned it is to be careful how you make arrangements because a lot of this process is out of our hands. There were no "horror stories", just lost money due to poor assumptions made.

So, relax and be careful out there. There are potholes but if you know where they are they will not hurt you.

@John & Rose I see that you have already gone to GCP. The website says that it's purpose is to counsel Filipino citizens on the future in the country they are going to - however they ask for a lot of the documentation that has already been given to the US Embassy. Can you give any insight on what actually happens during the CFO step? Is there some type of interview that happens at that point?
