It’s stated that the COs weren’t affected at that time. You mentioned they were.

I’m not challenging you on what you’re saying, John. I’m genuinely confused about how NVC could be affected.

Hi All!

Back online after a lovely thanksgiving break in the Caribbean not thinking about USCIS!  I've tried to scroll through the backlog of pages to see what I've missed and find the latest scans but didn't catch 'em - are there @shoegum scans for June? I'm a June 02 NOA1 and very curious to see the data on June approvals.   Sorry if it's there and I missed it.

 

Hope everyone's doing well and the approved couples are celebrating nicely!

If it's just a freeze it's headcount. If it's shutdown and freeze I don't know if they can hire, cause it would also stop the budget (hiring has a different budget in most places and shutdown would affect any nonessential work done)

NVC is part of the Dept of State and I’m fairly sure they do literally remove all non-essential personnel (I shouldn’t watch Madam Secretary so much)

Uscis and visas wasn't affected.

 Anyway, my two cents on the bs from earlier today. I said what I said because it was brought in as a scare. I don't like being scared, I do not like people being scared, being scared is not healthy.  

 

Bringing in a possibility of an event taking place that may influence our lives for the worse, without thoroughly explaining it, breeds fear. Fear is not healthy, that is the master of all stress. Do not take it lightly. So, "Gov't shutdown" has history. @John & Rose is little older than me, has seen at least 4, but I think 5 Presidents more than me, so he should of elaborated on what it is, how long it lasts, etc. So since he didn't, I will do the honors:

 

Regan administration - 8 years - 8 shutdowns - # of days in order 2, 1, 3, 3, 2. 1, 1, 1

Bush Sr administration - 4 years - 1 shutdowns - # of days 3

Clinton administration - 8 years - 2 shutdowns - # of days in order 5, 21

Bush Jr administration - 8 years - NO shutdowns

Obama administration - 8 years - 1 shutdown - 16 days

 

For readers who have little knowledge of US history and politics, those two glaring shutdowns of 18 and 21 days are both "Health" related - Medicare and Obamacare. May seem ridiculous to many, and it is, that is one thing that sits as a constant point of absurdity in this great country of ours. To continue, all other "shutdowns" combined in last 36 years and 5 Presidents, come up to 22 days. And just one more "cute" thing here, the "Bush Sr shutdown" was 3 days on paper, but it was Friday night after workday was over they "shutdown", just to open up on Monday morning in time for everybody to go to work. So it was a great weekend shutdown .

 

 

Scared of the shutdown? .....  

 

 

I read it all this morning, I was not going to comment, but than I took issue with @John & Rose going over to May topic and bringing it up, pasting a link, and writing what he wrote. Even than I reacted mildly. And after making people cry their eyeballs out, s***ing their pants, getting ulcer, God knows what else, we found out that inconsequential "shutdown" as it already is, does not have anything to do with USCIS  (THANK YOU @SwimminginSync !).
