That is one big difference that you will notice.  We have a lot of old beat up cars on the road here compared to the UK.

Lmao you know I was telling my cousin that yesterday. I told her that many of the cars there would not be allowed to be driven over here lol.

when I was last there, I pointed a car out to my fiancé and asked how can that car be legal. The drivers door handle was tied with string to the car to keep it closed lol! He was like "shoot, as long as you have your stickers and registration, you're good to go" lmao

Uber is great but I have only used it in Vietnam and the Philippines.  I love the concept and the cars and drivers are generally very nice.

Yeah, it's just the odd horror stories that make it bad for the good ones.

He always gets tips so I guess he can't be that bad lol

There are a lot of good options north and west of the city.  Head out west towards Oak Brook or Naperville and there are some very good shops.

Thanks. He's not far from oak park.. will ask him about oak brook and Naperville

Very true.  There are emission tests and badly failing those is one way not to get registration updated.  If it passes that it probably doesn't even need seats!

Oak Brook is just about 10 to 15 minutes west of Oak Park.  I am in Elmhurst which is very close to Oak Park.  That is a beautiful old area.

LOL.  Unfortunately, it is probably true.  People here drive them until they die.  Then they just take their plates off and leave it.

There are some very affordable places all over around here.  Check out Zillow or Trulia.

Thanks. He wants me to be in a safe enough area to walk our dog when we get one. He is in a true West side area, but we won't be there for long.

Yes.  Elmhurst is very safe and nice town.  There are families walking dogs all night and there are also excellent parks.  We moved here for the schools and just can't leave.

My daughter will be a Senior and my son is in college.  My new family will be a Freshman and a Junior.

I'm a June filer as well!  Just found this thread today and glad I did.  This whole process is crazy.  The waiting to hear something is so agonizing..  Glad there are so many here that can support one another.  My fiance is from the UK.  He was just here in June and will be back in September to visit..  We both cannot wait until her is here permanently.  Good luck to you all!

Welcome. I am the beneficiary and will be travelling from the UK.

THe waiting sucks and dates are pushed back constantly. When I first input my details, my estimated approval was the last week of September, and now it's the first week of November.

I will be seeing my fiancé the end of this month.

Hi all! Swedish/American pair here, and we filed on June 5 (Monday), got confirmation of receipt the following Monday (June 12). Annnnd that's about it! Obviously not a whole lot of movement at this point. Impatiently waiting for sure. 😑

Anybody planning any visits from either direction in the meantime?

I traveled to Brazil for a visit after filing the I-129F, and had no problem. It may have taken a couple moments longer at the passport control - or maybe I was just nervous! But they didn't ask any questions, and I've been here for about 5 weeks.

My partner and I are now traveling together from Brazil to California in a couple days. We are planning to stay there for about two months (I, the petitioner, have a temporary job) and then we will return and stay in Brazil until the interview. So we'll let you know how the process goes!
