Yup, my dog has to go in cargo... costing me £1200 GBP (probably more than my own ticket).

She doesn't NEED rabies vac, but have had it anyway... all she HAS to have is a 'fit to fly' certificate from the vet 7 to 10 days before we leave.

Hi Vocaladge, if you don't mind me asking how big is your dog and is the £1200.00 for the whole process,  I am guessing you are flying from LHR? Despite being a September filer we are hoping that I might be moving June /July 2018 so I am just getting some idea what my German Shepard is going to cost! as you said more than a cabin ticket.

Also a big thank you for the work you (as well as the others) do publishing the scans, it doesn't make good reading but at least we know it is a loooooong possess,

She is a cocker spaniel and they charge (on Virgin Atlantic) for the size of the pet crate.  You'd need a larger one for a German Shepherd I assume. They need to be able to stand, sit up and lay out fully without any restriction, as well as to turn around inside the crate.

Mine is 36x25x27 in inches.... and sorry I got it wrong, The cost (if I fly in Jan) is £1022.60 with a $60 import fee at Atlanta (destination).

It is from LHR, and it has to be a certain flight, and I have to fly Mon-Fri.

Other than that, yeah...

One other question, I am just wondering what happens in Atlanta? do they have an "ARC" like LHR does ? I am expecting i'll be using O'Hare but can't find much info on what happens on arrival, I plan on Emailing them next year but I am just curious about other airports.    Thanks
