I went from home ownership (ex wife kept it after divorce) to renting a one bedroom apartment.  I enjoyed not having as much yard work but I loved blowing snow!  Now with the new family I will look forward to getting a house again.  My fiancé loves decorating and gardening and I can teach my step son all about lawnmowers!!!

I think the opposite... that it's cheaper there lol but I'm very particular on who does anything on my body (hair and nails specifically - I have natural Afro hair!). I'm hoping that I will have finished my laser hair sessions by the time I move too.

Im hoping to sell most off my stuff to help with the shipping on my items. (Want to take my beloved John Lewis dining table lol), clothes and books. I have quite a few clothes and shoes lol

He is very keen on me driving. I drive a 2017 BMW but asked him to get me a cheap little banger car as I hate to ding something nice lol

Yep I have afro hair too and hate the idea of finding someone to cut it. I may even wait for visits home lol! 

 

I have no furniture to take, i’ll sell everything in my flat not that it’s worth much but I will be shipping all my shoes and my nicer clothes. I will be stocking up from Zara as the nearest one is about 5 hours away!  😀

I'd try to stick with a Bimmer.  I love mine and I would hate to go to some old beater after driving my BMW.

Well My fiancé will trim my hair. He would hate for someone to ruin it. I know a good stylist in NYC. 

He has a decent shopping mall about 15 mins away and only 30 mins from downtown Chicago.

Instagram is brilliant for finding someone reputable.

I go both ways.  Leasing is usually less than car payments and you get a new car every few years.  The only time leasing isn't a great option, in my opinion, is when you drive way above the average (10,000 miles a year).  The cost of additional miles adds up quickly.

There are a lot of good options north and west of the city.  Head out west towards Oak Brook or Naperville and there are some very good shops.

lol I've had a fair share of nice cars and also bangers. I don't mind driving one until I start getting a good income and I'm used to the roads. Then I can get something nice

That is one big difference that you will notice.  We have a lot of old beat up cars on the road here compared to the UK.

Difference is America is very much a credit country. It's normal to lease and finance. They have better agreements that we do on the UK. 

My fiancé is an uber driver and drives a soccer mom van as he calls it lol. His isn't new or fancy but gets the job done.

Uber is great but I have only used it in Vietnam and the Philippines.  I love the concept and the cars and drivers are generally very nice.
