Hi, guys.

My fiancé called the customer service hotline and was transferred to a Tier 2 officer. He asked her about why June 1st and 2nd were skipped over. She informed us that the officers assigned to the cases were half way through them but some of them got promoted and so the cases that they were working on will be assigned to a new officer and they have to go back to square one. We asked her for a service report and she said it might take 2 weeks for a reply.

Back to square one? Like, six months ago square one? That's not what that means, right?

I can't. I just can't. That would be...well, ruinous.

What else could they mean by 'square one'? They said the cases they were working on WILL be assigned to new officers...implying they're not yet assigned to anyone and no one is touching them, with no timeline for anyone to even get to them?

What else could it mean?

Keep in mind that they only review the file for no more than 10 minutes. Square one may start the 10 minutes over but not the whole journey from the lockbox.

Only ten minutes? How?

You mean, they approve or disapprove based on a ten minute review? Or they review it to decide what the next step is?

I'm so sorry to be a pain. Thank you kindly for your assistance John.  :)

Just an update to confirm "who the heck knows what is going on with updates on the system"

my inquiry for outside normal processing times was originally submitted on the 9th.

today is updated to the 24th and said it was assigned to an officer.

5 minutes ago I got an email stating "the inquiry you submitted on the 9th (not the 24th as the system says) was completed

your case has been assigned to an officer and you will receive anotice of action within 45 days.

soooo, how many got the same response as me and where are you at now?

It seems like the responses to those inquiries about the Sept 1 processing date are really varied. I suppose it depends on the one doing the response.

Yes. They just look through it to find red flags. If they don’t see any it goes to the NVC. If they don’t see any it is up to the very well trained CO at the interview. Sad but true, the big wait is just to get them to open the box that our petition is in!  Search for the questions and answers with a former adjudicator thread here.

Please, you aren’t a pain at all. The people asking the questions here only know the answers because we asked the questions before.  This is not something that anyone wants to become good at. We all had the questions you have. Unless you have gone through this a few times before we are all still learning. This is a process that we do not want to become a professional at!!!

I will search for the Q&A with the former adjudicator. But this is a huge relief! I guess I became engulfed panic for a moment there.

Thank you so much John. Thank you and thank God for you and this forum, and this particular thread and these particular people. No matter what happens, you've been a light in a long, difficult time for us all. May we all be released from our torture soon (ish). :P

My thanks to all of you.   (L)

So, I'm seeing that a lot of your emailed inquiry responses say to expect a response in 45 days.  I also filed one 11/9, and receieved an email today - however, mine just said that it was in normal processing times, nothing else.  Tier 2 told me on Wednesday that it had been assigned to an officer...so, is this conflicting information?  If June 2nd cases truly got reassigned to different officers, this seems to suggest mine might be among them.

But, again: it's all a shot in the dark!  USCIS works in mysterious ways :P

False Alarm.... As Naes predicted, they deem it appropriate apparently to write to us to tell us what others got updated on the app.

I'm REALLY angry about this.  They shouldn't do that and get peoples hopes up in this way.

No need to write a letter and send it in the mail to say "Its within normal processing times" - thats absolutely terrible service...

Anyway - sorry for the false alarm everyone - back to the wait!

I got the same message via email today...good times 😭

Makes a bit more sense for you, though, as your NOA1 date is quite a bit later.

Actually this is different...

this may really just mean your background checks are taking longer..

Yeah, but it seems like we are all just getting random answers... I’m a June 27th filer though...

I wonder if this means I’m closer to get an answer... one can only hope 🙏🏻
