This was hypothesized over a month ago as a likely outcome by those that work in and around government. About a month ago, it was very clear from volumes of petitions and the rate that they were being worked that early June would easily be over 170 days average very likely over 175 and quite likely over 180 which pushes the advertised response time window. There are many many May petitions over 180 now and with Thanksgiving, first few days of June is going to have the majority of petitions quite long.

I did not want to believe the "use the RFE to buy time" hypothesis a month ago, but my gut was worried about it. However, it seems the data is starting to validate the hypothesis that they will keep the  average response time at or under 180 or so days this way.

The road has an end, just so many curves you can't see it or know how far away it is.

It does seem like they do a quick check and anything that they feel needs more explanation they put into a pile.  Those seem to be input on Monday mornings as the number of RFEs to approvals/denials are very skewed towards RFEs.  Later in the week RFEs have settled and approvals/denials take center stage.  I do believe that RFEs are used to keep their advertised response time in check.

exactly same thing.. cause there is a priest involved..

@Ron48 please inform us if anything comes up about this in the future. Not just with the petition but if they say anything in the interview.

This can be a really important information for some people who are dealing with proving they are not married and it was just an engagement party.

Gladly ☺

Any of our friends who filed from June 1 to June 3 already approved? 😁

We are expecting that we might get an RFE because my Fiancé thinks we missed something. If we do, and if we send them what they need overnight, will it take months again before they get back to us?

I’m already expecting that the whole process will take us a year. Sigh. But it will be worth the wait. An approval would be the best Christmas gift. Wooohooo!

That depends on what the RFE is for.  If it is an easy fix and they accept your response the delay is only in the 2 week timeframe.  Really not that bad.  The RFEs seem to be held in a separate file so as soon as they receive the response they put it right back into the approval process.

I'm June 2nd, but not approved yet!  I believe some June 1st-ers have gotten a response, though.  June 5th, too.

Oh I think 2 weeks doesn’t sound bad. I think he said we missed the part where we have to write something about how we met. So I hope it isn’t a major thing.

Just because we started a new week - I was playing with some numbers to bide my time.

This is the raw analysis from the original list of WAC numbers I was given

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

This does NOT include the people who had already moved to "Name was updated etc" on dates outside of these, so it is not complete, but just in order of comparison, I will use this specific set of data at the start of each week to compare progress.

So yeah, this is just the original data so that you can see which days are the 'heaviest' in terms of the number of applications.... (mainly Mondays - 5th, 6th, 12th, 19th, 26th)...

I'll put together an analysis of the changes to this set of data so far, before (and after) I run my daily regular scan - so look out for an update to this set of data later tonight.

great job on the overview and time you invested in this :) it's very interesting to see the busy Mondays!

Well, of course, on Mondays they pick up and record delivery of Saturday and Sunday, as well as the usual day's worth of applications so it makes sense, but its still interesting when you see it clearly like this  :-)
