Hi,

I got the I-797 letter saying that my conditional resident status is extended for one year for employment and travel, and it told me that a biometric processing will be scheduled. I did that back in January 2017. Till today, June 5th, my receipt number is NOT trackable on the USCIS website. The error I get is this:

  • My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Is this normal? I tried calling them but their system could not find the number either...

The number on the extension letter will not work in the system.  In a few weeks you should get the biometrics appointment letter which will have a second number on it.  Try that one, it should work.

Good Luck!

Thanks Bill & Katya for the prompt response.

The ASC appointment notice , which I already went to the biometric fingerprinting, has two numbers on it. The first number is the one that is not trackable. The second receipt number says the following:

Fees were waived

On January 3, 2017, we received your case and waived the filing fee for your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received, Receipt Number WACXXXXXX. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by February 2, 2017, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Is that the same for everyone else?

Hi Frontgear,

Does yours say the same too, after doing the biometrics? I would think it should say something like "biometrics taken" and what the next steps are such as in process or something similar.

I get the same message.  Not sure anyone knows what it really means.  It might have something to do with them essentially opening up a new case number for the application, so no additional fees are required.

A lot of us see "Your Case Was Received" - it seems like one of these 2 messages will continue to show on their system pretty much until our new cards are ordered and/or mailed. Then the system will update, but usually not before. The USCIS computers are not well linked to the case status website... maybe someday, but not now.

Is your timeline updated?

Hmm so is "Your case was received" before or after "Fees were waived" ?

I tried calling the hotline, and they didn't have it on record either. I then tried the receipt number that said "Fees were waived" but because it's a petition, they wanted to talk to my spouse who was the petitioner (even though I'm the applicant..)

Spouse (who is a US citizen) called, and said the other way around, only the applicant can call in -_-. Don't you just love the run around?

I think you get one or the other. I never got "fees were waived".

Re: terminology. For this case, you are the petitioner... in Removal of Conditions, petitioner=applicant. And if you don't give them the right "code word" they won't tell you anything.

....yes... I love it so much... :girlwerewolf2xn:
