Copy of marriage certificate with I-485

When they ask for the copy of Marriage Certificate do they want the copy of the marriage certificate that we received from the court house (the original that we signed is officially registered and placed on file at the county recorder) or I can make a photocopy of what we got from the court house (the Certified Copy) ?

I sent them in a certified copy. I wouldn't send just a copy of a certified copy (thats a tongue twister), perhaps it would be wise to get another certified copy from the court house.

I posted this same question last week, and many VJ'ers said that it's ok to just send a copy of your original certificate. You might get asked to bring a certified copy to the interview, though.

We submitted a certified copy. It's not expensive, at least where we are, and rather than chance it, we just sent the certified one.

We requested a few copies of our marriage certificate when we went to the Court House. We sent a true certified copy of our marriage certificate with our I-485.

I was worried we would get an RFE for not sending a certified copy.

You don't have to send originals anymore. This used to be a requirement, I believe. What is required, is an unaltered, exact copy of the certified copy of the marriage certificate. Take the original (along with any other originals) with you to the interview.

Just to clarify... you still have to send in originals of all the immigration forms (e.g. I-485 and I-765 etc). Just not the evidence they ask for.

Yeah, I believe they even say it in some forms and also on their web-site.

What about K3s adjusting status who already have an approved I-130? Does anyone think that I should send in the actual certified copy or will a photocopy suffice? They approved both the I-130 and the I-129F with just a photocopy. I did show the original certificate at the consulate interview of course.

I sent in a just a copy of the certified copy with my AOS application. The I-485 instructions say that a copy is sufficient.

Marriage certificates are expensive here. We paid $ 93.50.

I know in NY (well, 10 years ago) they were only $25. I can't imagine that the price has more than at least doubled...right?

In Colonie, Albany County, where my parents got married, the price is 40.00 according to their website.

I'd rather get married at Clearwater Beach than in dreary NY though ^.^

We paid 93.50 plus the 30 for them to perform the service.
