Hello all,

I am having some difficulty figuring out the I-134 form, and am hoping someone can help me out.

I am currently a full time college student. I work part time through an organization at my university, and also am interning at another company this summer. However, that being said I don't meet the poverty guidelines for the USA, so I am having my mother be the Co-Sponsor for my fiance. That being said, I have a few questions regarding this form.

1. Do myself AND my mother BOTH need to fill out the I-134 separately. If so is there parts that I should leave out or she should leave out?

2. Since I do not meet the guidelines for poverty - do I need to provide proof of my income (job statement/bank statement)? Will it look good to just show them I have somewhat of an income?

3. We are providing my mothers proof of job/income and her bank statement as evidence that she is above poverty. Will this be sufficent? I read online many people giving long lists of proof - while the instructions on the form only ask for those 2 things.

4. How will they know my mother is the co-sponsor?

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated I am very confused with this portion of the process

1. You both need to fill out an I-134 and supply documentation with it.

2. It really doesn't matter since you're using a co-sponsor. You could put $0.00 as income since you're a student or supply what you can. Doesn't make any difference honestly.

3. For her, she should provide current pay stubs(3 months worth) to show current income. She could supply banking statements if wanting to show savings (generally 12 months worth), or other things for assets (appraised home/cars/ect)

4. This can be explained at the interview. Plus with you being the petitioner and showing no income basically, it will be fairly easy to tell.

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

Thank you so much for this.

When supplying my documentation - what would that mean for me? What would I need to supply for myself other than the form?

Do you think it would be best to put $0 or to put my income? I know you said it doesn't matter either way but do you think there is a better way to approach it?

Thanks again, you really helped me out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

This is not related to your I-134 questions but something to think about for the K-1 in general.  It's just some things to think about, not meant to offend or anything, we were all at that stage in life at one point.  Right now, it sounds like you can't afford to support your fiancée.  If you cannot meet the poverty guidelines (which are ridiculously low to begin with), it's gonna be hard to be on your own.  Or are you planning to live in your parent's house with your wife?  If so, read some of the horror stories on here about what happens when a foreigner gets stuck with the in-laws and what happens after a while.  It's usually not pretty.  What if they don't get along for whatever reason?  There will be drama.  Whose side are you gonna be on?  How does she feel about all this (assuming you will live with your parents)?

I know you are young and eager to get her here, but the mature thing to do would be to finish college, find s decent job, move out, and then move her here.  You have plenty of time.  If she comes here while you are still in college, are you sure that you will want to continue going to school.

Good luck.

Thank you,

Also in the same situation: however I have a question: her dad could co-sponsor us maybe (with her mom) but her dad left Google last month for another company it means in his new job he didn't work for 3 months, can he sponsors us by showing the Google wages he got or is it too old?
