Illegals have nothing to do with your sister in law not getting a visitor visa. People who abused their visitor visas by either overstaying or just never leaving are the people responsible for your sister in law not being able to obtain a visitor visa.

Agreed, plenty of examples on VJ.

Those people are illegals.

But they have no impact on your sister's ties to PH (the most likely cause if she were to get a denial).

Wow, these responses are hard to read as I am in a similar situation and want my cousin to visit me for my wedding. It is sad that this is how the system has been affected now leaving families without a chance of seeing each other.

A large part of this is based on past experiences.  That is, experiences with previous people entering on tourist visas and not leaving

people need to chill out. certain countries can get visitor visas easier then others.. it wont change because as much as you say 'i guarantee my ... will leave' it wont happen that way! once you get on US soil everything changes!

regardless, you need strong ties to your homecountry and to prove you will return.

I know you're frustrated. I plan on being in the Philippines in August then starting the long process of bringing my wife here. Something I have always understood about the Philippines is that there are pretty much only 2 ways for a single Filipina under 40 to come to America, fiance or spouse visa. Tourist visas are extremely hard to get. When my future wife does migrate I also know that if she wants to see her family or they want to see her, it will involve her going there. I wish I could give you the magic answer that would get her approved, sadly that is not reality. I wish you the best!

Reread what I said.

The people you described are illegals. The people to blame for this situation that makes it so difficult for my SIL to come here  for a visit are illegals. Well, politicians and bleeding hearts moreso. Remember when Romney was excoriated for his "self deport" comment?

She makes good money by Philippines standards giving speeches and training people, it's just she does this all on her own and isn't tied down to any employer. She has contracts that are set out into the future. Her son will stay behind in the Philippines and will be watched by her sister and mom. Wouldn't having a school-aged son show strong ties?

Not so much, it is quite common for Filipinos to work abroad for years and leave their children in the care of extended family

The people that make it so difficult for your SIL to visit are other Filipinos. Enforcement within the US has no impact on her case...it won't help her her overcome 214b. Removing every illegal person in the US would not make any difference in her ability to get a tourist visa.

Romney and "bleeding hearts" have no impact in your case. If you want to discuss politics, then I suggest doing so in the "US Immigration News and Discussion" or "General Immigration-Related Discussion" forums.

Yeah, I understand that.

My SIL used to work for a major pharmaceutical company before she started out on her own. Ex-coworkers were sent here by GSK for work and then just stayed illegally. Not cool. We wouldn't have to be this strict on tourist visas if the government did a good job handling those who are here.

Instead, we have illegals getting driver's licenses, having anchor children who are given citizenship, getting scholarships for college, etc. There was a certain illegal named Jean Jacques who was released from prison after serving 20 years for attempted murder, ICE asked Haiti to take him back, Haiti said "no", and then this guy was just released. A few months later he murdered a girl right in this town. I'm in favor of deporting all of them, even the people who quietly wash dishes or pick vegetables and try to mind their business. But come on, we couldn't even deport THIS guy after he was in jail for 20 years for attempted murder?  Now we'll be paying to keep him in prison until he's dead.

We are going off topic here but it was a failure on the part of ICE that he wasn't deported. Haiti wanted proof that he was Haitian - by way of his birth certificate - ICE failed to provide that so could not send him there. He claimed to be Haitian (and he probably is) but they couldn't take his word for it. That's why "Haiti said no". If a muderer in another country claimed to be a USC and wanted to be brought here to live next door to you you'd surely want to know that he had a valid reason for being here and proof that he belonged here. Haiti felt the same way about this guy. They weren't going to let a murderer in without proof he was Haitian.
