Hello, congratulations! Good luck with your interview! We lived in NoVa for quite a while, still miss it lol. Now we are in a Maryland side of the DC area. So our office now is Baltimore, which is slower than Fairfax office :(   We are July 2017 filers, stuck on "Fees Received".

BTW, USCIS Fairfax location is actually called Virginia - Washington Field Office and serves DC+Northern Virginia (mostly).

I was a July 2017 Baltimore AOS, had my interview Jan 30th, GC received a week later, approved on the spot, I thought Baltimore office was fast

Yes, you are one of those very few exceptionally lucky Baltimore applicants. An outlier. Wish we had the same luck! But, alas, Baltimore is extremely backlogged, it's one of the slowest in the entire country.

Maybe, or maybe not. Nobody can understand/explain how things work with AOS in each individual case.

Hello everyone!

February 14, 2018 - USCIS sent us a notification through email that our interview has been scheduled and that they sent us a letter with instructions!

February 16, 2018 - we received the letter from USCIS and our interview is going to be on March 22, 2018 on Fairfax, VA (weird bc we're closer to DC but I guess it's state jurisdiction). It took 230+ days from NOA1 to interview notification. Just needed to be patient I guess.

Anyone else here from VA? I hope everyone else is doing good in life!

Bobby

I'm from VA. And yeah the "Washington DC" office location is actually in Fairfax, VA. DC federal offices are weird like that, i guess it can be traced back to when a part of Northern VA was still part of DC.

Hello everyone,

I've been waiting for 196 days for I-485 (Last update: Response to USCIS' Request for evidence was received) and 235 days for I-130 (Last update: case was received).

My PD is June 30, 2017 (NBC). I noticed most June or even July filers had their NOA2 already. I got my EAD/AP in September 2017 (Requested expedite service). Is it a normal time frame for an approval? Which one to get approve first? I-485 or I-130?

What will happen if I apply for graduate school while AOS is in progress? Will I get student visa during this period? Would I be qualified for in-state tuition?

Is it better to wait for the green card?

Any thoughts comments, suggestions would be appreciated ! Thanks

Hi! I'm also in Texas, my PD is June 30, 2017, and I am in my second semester of a graduate school.
First, USCIS offices in Texas are among the most backlogged in the nation, alas. Currently, it's 12-16 month waiting to get an interview date.
You can apply for graduate school, and you don't need a student visa. To determine your eligibility for in-state tuition, schools use Core Residency Questionnaire Q.3 in Part F. asks explicitly about AOS. You need to talk to the admission office at your school to find out the details.
I am considered an international student in my school. However, I qualified for in-state tuition. I'm graduating in May 2019 and hope I will have my GC by then...

Congratulations! I'm so very happy for you. However, I admit that I feel envious every time I see someone gets their interview while we, those who applied from Texas, are indefinitely stuck in a damn limbo. The waiting is so depressing.
