Update from my end: I created a service request online on September 27, but to this day, it has not been assigned. So, I called USCIS, and after some hassle until I finally got to speak with an actual person, I ended up with someone who was actually quite friendly and quite competent (or so it came across anyway). I explained my situation to her, and after having given her my receipt #, my full name, and my DOB, she created another service request for me, handed me the confirmation number, and assured me that I would hear something within the next five days. Not a huge achievement, but I hope it helps anyway and I get my work permit soon. It's about time.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Does my husband need to apply for a driver’s license after the GC process is over, or can we do it now while we still wait on our interview date?

You guys can do it now. Does he have a SSN?

Yes he has one. So because he has never held a license before, he would need to start of with a learners permit?

Yes, he needs both his EAD and SS card. As far as I know his license will have the expiration date of his EAD on it since the EAD is temporary. He needs to get his drivers license renewed when he receives his Green Card.

Did he have a drivers license in his home country? I'm asking because HERE IN FLORIDA I got a drivers license without "learner's permit" I only had to do the written test, them the practical test and then I got it right after the practice test...what I mean is, if he know how to drive he should be able to get a license right after passing the written and practical test.
