Today I had my interview with my husband and we got approved on the spot!:)

We had our interview at 8:55am in San Bernardino Filed Office, but we got called by around 9:20am.

The officer is a very nice and professional man.

We first took the oath and the officer assigned us the seats.

Then he letted us to show our ID (my husband's passport + driver license, my passport + work permit + driving instruction permit).

I feel like other than identity verification, an another important thing the officer was looking for is our current address on them.

Then He took the picture again for me, I though it should be a very important picture so I just asked him if I can smile, he said yes. And I just gave the camera a big smile:).

Then he asked us how we met? is this our first marriage? do we have kids? How long time we were dating each other before marriage?

In the same time he checked carefully our paperwork and signed or did a mark on different pages.

Then He asked us if we have any evidences to add? And we just put everything we had on the table (Originals + Copies): Joint names Bank Statements, Joint names Health Insurance card + medical bills, Joint car insurances, our photos of marriage, travels, families (but he didn't take any of our photos because he said we already submitted some in our original application package).

And then some questions in i-485: have you ever committed any crimes in the US? deportations? communists? No No No.

Then he just went out of the office to make the copies of our IDs.

When he came back, he took a hole on my work permit and gave me the approval letter and said congratulations and I was approved to be a permanent resident here!:)

I am happy and my husband was tearful at that time! lol after the interview he told me that the moment that he saw the the officer stamped approved on our paperwork, he was full of emotions. Finally we can book our flights for our next year travel in China!:)

In 4pm the same day of my interview, the online status changed to "new card is being produced":)

My personal feelings:

The whole process was smooth and professional. Maybe our case is relatively simple: first marriage, no child, no any criminal records, and our bank statements + health insurances+ car insurances in hands. So it turns out to be much smoother.

So if your feel your case is complicate, be prepared for some more detailed questions, such as previous marriages, children, etc. Be prepared, not be anxious!:)

My personal suggestions:

1 Be well prepared, get all the evidences of your bona fide marriage to the interview. especially bank, health, cars, to show that you are really financially and physically attached to each other.

2 Tell the truth. It is very very important.

3 If you are a bona fide couples, try to be relaxed, I feel like a lot of officers have been working on this position for many years, if it is true, and your status is eligible, then you should not have a problem:)

And once again, thank you for all you guys on VisaJourney, it was a huge help for me to see your updates and reviews and suggestions everything.  Hope we can keep helping each other and my best wishes to all, Best luck!!!

Hello June AOS filers! i hope you don't mind me joining your thread - I need some tips and advise and you guys just finished or are finishing the process so I thought i'd ask for your help. =)

So I will be adjusting from a K1 visa. I have read the guide on here http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos but I'm wondering if front loading will be helpful.

Based on your experiences, is it a good idea to front load the application?  And then, aside from the obvious marriage certificate is there anything else you would advise to include that is not listed on the link above?

Thanks and congrats to all who just got their green cards / EAD / APs and hang in there to all still waiting!

According to someone who went to a USCIS conference, they said 'front loading' is a good idea. There's no guarantees it will do anything. I just included 4 wedding photos with mine, I didn't bother with anything else.

I would recommend requesting tax transcripts from the IRS as evidence. I did this and it seems to cover everything (W2s and 1040?)

Best of luck

If you do have, some joint names financial, medical documents should be some good evidences. Such as car, bank, health etc.

If not, try to prepare it before the interview, it turns out to be some very important documents during my interview.

Good luck.

You might want to address the fact that they did not properly label your birth country. Just call USCIS to ask. It might be an error on their end.

As for the card number, my EAD also shows my receipt number as my card number. That's probably how they track card production and applicant number/petitions when it comes to EADs. Just a guess.

I was able to apply for an SSN with my card so I don't think you should worry. But clear up the situation with your birth country. They should be able to resolve it. I'm sure you filled your application properly and they probably made a mistake.

Oh dear thank you, yes he is doing okay...he hurt himself pretty badly right after the Hurricane wile stacking the hurricane metal shutters in the garage after removing them, he had a surgery because of a internal bleeding in his leg and it didn't healed (don't know if I'm spelling it correctly) properly...so after 2 weeks he had to go trough another surgery to clean the area and remove some necrosis, it's been quite exhausting for me because we have a 4 months puppy (Harry boy ) so I have to came home and go back to the hospital 4 times a day...but you know what? I'm just so glad to be close to my man and to be able to take care of him...I would probably be crazy by now if I was in Brazil far away from him...he is going to be fine for sure!
