They were showing them where to stand for a photograph. That doesn't mean the protesters were "fake", it just means the photograph was "staged". 

 

That's like saying because a wedding photograph involves a photographer gathering people up into the frame for the photo, that all of the wedding guests were fake and paid to be there.

 

The protesters were still likely very real, they were just moved and positioned to take a photo. Was the photo taken a certain way to be potentially misleading about the number of protesters? Possibly. I don't know if CNN's article about it, or any other article quoted numbers of protesters and whether the number quoted was wildly inflated. However, that should negate however many protesters did show up to show support. We should be encouraging more of that from their communities, not looking for an excuse to insult them by saying they are "for hire" or "fake".

Some peeps (conservatives mostly) have been calling for Muslims to denounce these attacks for years, they finally get it and now they claim "it's fake". Go figure.

They've been calling for it, but they don't really want anything to change. Some of these people thrive on hatred and ignorance.

 

If all of a sudden terrorism ceased to exist, they'd all go home, heads down, and depressed because they have nobody to hate anymore.

It's almost as if every single Muslim man, woman, and child on the planet denounced and apologized for the actions of someone else it still wouldn't be good enough. Indeed they'd complain it wasn't sincere, wasn't soon enough, it was some conspiracy of appeasement, or.... meh you know the drill.
