Why would someone get denied a K1 visa?

Hey There!

 

Me and my fiance are getting closer and closer to the interview part of the K1 process and I'm kind of stressed to be honest! I'm just so terrified we're gonna get denied. I don't why but I know how sometimes they deny tourist visas w/o even explaining. He's from Russia and we've been together for 1,5 years. During this time, we've taken 5 trips to see each other, he's met my family, and now I'm in Russia for 2 months with him and his family. I'm going to be attending the interview too and we do have all the evidence like call logs, chat history, tickets, receipts, hundred of photos etc. and I'm still questioning if that's gonna be enough. Maybe the fact that I'm 8 years older than him will be an issue (I'm 29, he's 21) or that he's been previously denied a US visa? Once when he was 16 and also like 2 months ago when he was trying to come see me. My question is why would he possibly get denied this time? Can they just deny him for no reason?

Previous denied visas, like B2's are generally no issue when it comes to K-1 visas. K-1 is ment to immigrate even though it is technically a "non-immigrant" visa; but with immigrant intent.

 

As long as there was no misrepresentation/lies on the application for the B2, it shouldn't be any issues.

 

Reasons for denial always vary by country. If the country is a high fraud country, they can take a lot of factors into account such as age difference, religious difference, family involvement/acceptance, time spent in person or face to face, length of relationship, ect..

 

But again this varies by country and embasy. Honestly as long as you go into the interview well prepared with all documents you should be fine.

Don't worry about the age difference. We have an even bigger age difference (my husband is also younger) and it wasn't an issue at all. Sure, it's uncommon but as long as you have lots of evidence they won't even ask about it.

 

Previously denied US visa: if it was a tourist visa, not a big deal. It won't have any affect on whether he gets a K-1. K-1's are usually denied because they don't think the relationship is real. Also, K-1's are not like tourist visas. In case of a refusal, they will tell you why. Also, Russia is not considered a 'high fraud' country, so there's that too.
