My USC partner whose parents are very conservative. They refused to accept our marriage as well as their son. However, my parents are very supportive of us. We have tons of bona fide proofs of our marriage: Car loan, car & health insurance, bank accounts, friends & my side family photos, travel documents.

My Question is: How do we present our marriage in the AOS interview, now we have conservative parents?

Side note: This goes out to gay and straight relationships as well. I know straight couples whose parents don't expect foreign spouse. -  help

You're both adults, what do your parents have anything to do with anything? Gay, straight, consertative, liberal, accepting, unaccepting. It's your relationship not your parents....why would they be concerned about your parents during AOS?

Exactly, what do parents have to do with anything?

Also wondering what it has to do with Parents?

If they ask tell the truth.

You simply say "his family was not at the wedding".

I think you're making this a bigger issue than what it is. Tons of people get married at the courthouse without any friends or family.

I am in a lesbian relationship. Our parents on either side do not approve. Our siblings are supportive though. During the interview, tell the truth about how they dont support you. It's very common so it wont be a big deal. We got married at the courthouse with noone except for my sister in law (my family is not in the US).

It is natural to worry about this, but the reality is that if you were not applying for a CR1/K1, you would care so much about what other people would be thinking about family approval or lack thereof. I am trying to remind myself this very thing! Would I worry? The answer is, no! The same is not the case when it comes to our visa process though. A conundrum I can relate to!

We are going to face the same tune, albeit a different beat perhaps. The only family support we have is from my cousin really and our inner circle of (his/my) friends.  For the time being...

Our motto is -- do not let fear make you say something that is not true. No matter what, you can overcome things when you are truthful. One lie and you can turn a possibly utterly nonviable.

Wishing you both all the best (F)

We live in a modern society and sexuality is part of that. It has nothing to do with your parents as you are consenting adults and all of that other stuff. This in no way will effect your case so don't worry!

My father couldn't attend my wedding and it didn't effect us at all. They'll understand. Just tell the truth!
