Hello all,

I received my NOA2 in the mail and called the NVC for a case number. I tried to insert the case number to check the status  on this site : https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

and was told that the number was not recognized for a non-immigrant visa.  Has anyone successfully used this site for the K1 visa?

Besides sending documents to my fiance; is there anything that I should be doing at this stage?  Will it be myself or my fiance abroad who will be notified once the embassy receives our application package?

Thanks a lot.

For CEAC, a K1 is considered immigrant,  try that.

The embassy in Nigeria notified me via email, I'm not sure for your specific embassy.   It seems each one has different ways of doing things.   Input your case number you received from NVC and once it says "ready for interview", complete your DS-160, pay the visa fee, and schedule your interview.   After that, complete your medical and obtain your police report!

Thank you very much.  I tried again and this time, I entered the case number as an immigrant visa and got " AT NVC"  So maybe the application is still at the NVC.   We requested for the US embassy in Abuja when we applied.  The case number starts with LGS . Does anyone know if all petitions are first sent to Lagos and then some transferred to Abuja?

Does the embassy contact both the petitioner and beneficiary or the petitioner alone.

Thanks again.

Not completely positive, but they may only do K1 interviews at one location in the country.  I do know that in Canada, they only do K1s in Montreal.

They only do K1's in Lagos.  Sorry, I would have given you embassy-specific info the first time but I didn't even notice you were from Nigeria!

They emailed me the "packet" which just tells you how to get your police report and the two places you can get your medical done.   I actually think there's a link to the packet on the portal.  My fiance didn't receive anything.
