Hi,

All the threads about Mumbai are really old and I could not find much information. My NVC status says Ready. Can someone please explain the process after that. I note on other forums that people usually start medical and schedule interview once the status is ready, but I checked on Rele clinic website and they asked to bring interview letter which I have not received.

I have not received any packet 3 or 4 as well.  Please advise the timeline for receiving interview letter and the visa process in Mumbai. Any information  will be helpful. Thank you.

Hi. I'm wondering the same also but for New Delhi embassy. Have you received any packet 3 or 4 information yet? I found this document which seems to be the packet 4 from New Delhi embassy. But I haven't been able to find any info on packet 3, specifically on if it is mailed or can be obtained via email. Let us know if/how you received packet 3 or find out any more details.

Here's the link I found, I imagine it is similar for Mumbai embassy also.

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

There is no packet 3 for Mumbai. They send an email/letter with further instructions which is packet 4. Once you receive that, you can schedule your interview and medical. It should be same for Delhi too but call/email them to confirm. Mumbai embassy reply to emails pretty fast within a day or two. I'm not sure about Delhi though. Hope this helps.

SInce NVC status says "Ready" it means the applicant can go ahead and start the visa process which involves medicals, police certificate etc.

One month after NWD received my case (Nov 10th 2016), I was still still waiting for the packet 4 mail. It was nearly 40 days and then I called up ustraveldocs in the 3rd week of December and they said they have already sent packet 4 to my address in Hyderabad on December 2nd 2016 and I said i havent received none and so they have e-mailed me the same and then i did my medicals, DS160, Police certificates and all.

Guys, if any of you have been outside India for more than a year then i advise you to get your police certificate form that country before your interview.

I advise you to wait for exactly one month, if you've received your packet 4 by mail or e-mail then its cool orelse contact ustraveldocs because your I-29F will expire in 4 months. Out of that one month goes in NVC sending packet 3 to consulate and consulate sending you packet 4 so basically you will have only 3 months of time so plan accordingly. All the best

We waited for 2 weeks to receive packet 4 from the Delhi embassy. I got tired of waiting (because we had already waited over a month for the NVC to receive the petition) so I emailed. At first I didn't hear anything, then I tried calling. Waste of time. I emailed again and this time I got an auto-response. We got an electronic version of packet 4 sent directly to me which I forwarded to my fiance. My suggestion is not to wait to receive the packet; just email the US travel docs help email address.

Also, after you pay the visa fee, you can schedule the biometrics and interview; there is a confirmation page you print out from US travel docs. You also need to bring 2 passport style photos and the DS160 (DS260 I believe if it's K3 visa) confirmation page.

Hi, I am trying to schedule an interview at the Mumbai consulate. But when I try, I only see one date available and it is for April. Do they open more slot? April 20th is close to 2 months away. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure about that. When I scheduled my interview I got immediate dates. you can email or call them. They usually reply to emails in 48 hours. Also keep checking the site. Someone may cancel or reschedule and a slot may open up.

Good luck with your appointment -- it sounds as though you were lucky to get one.

Moderation note:  In the future, please avoid multiple posts of the same query.  Several had to be removed, a couple from old threads.  Appreciate your cooperation. :)

Hi Riya! Did you call them right away when scheduling the interview or did you schedule the interview online? I see you had a very quick turnaround. I would love to have the same result.
