Hi! I had my interview last week applying under the 5 year rule, we also owe taxes (2016), a total of $3000 but we have $500 remaining balance we have a payment agreement. The IO asked me to see the tranzcripts and the agreement. she gave me back the transcripts but kept the payment agreement. Was recommended for approval at the spot!

dont worry about it you will be fine!

she told me as long as you have a payment plan and are not behind on your payments you should be fine

Our problem that we are little behind that’s why we are requesting a new payment plan .

my husband had some financial issues that’s why he did not pay on time .

i do not think that I will pass this issue !

I will try to explain hopefully the IO will not be hard on me

I handed to her, she took a moment than said the magic words( congratulations blah blah...

hopefully ur IO will understand

Yes I have a payment plan that my hubby did nit really respect in the first time because he lost his job then I requested a few weeks ago a ne wine , the IRS agent was very nice to me and he said that I can start by making volunteering payments until I have the new payment plan from the collections ( our file went to IRS collection ) and he also told me to take with me the new payment and explain the situation to the IO who can call them to confirm that I am telling the truth .

hopefully it will be smooth !

thanks a lot ! I pray to get this done .

it is a long journey

Hello, everyone.

I just took my interview at New York City office.

Actually, I got a call yesterday day that my interview has been postponed to March 22 due to bad weather.

However, I checked the homepage this morning and the website didn't say the NYC office is closed.

So I just went there in case and it was open. I was waiting around 1 hour.

The officer was very nice and friendly.

He asked all the details on N-400 the I submitted and asked the civic questions

The questions were;

How many justices are on the Supreme Court? - 9

What does the President's Cabinet do? - Advise the President

We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years? - 6

Name one branch or part of the government - Congress

What did the Declaration of Independence do? - Announced our independence from Great Britain

If both  the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President - the Speaker of the House.

The English test was;

Reading : When is Columbus Day?

Writing : Columbus Day is in October.

The officer asked me only tax transcripts, which I printed out 4 years tax transcript on IRS website.

He did not ask me the passport photos though.

I got approved at the spot! Next is the Oath Ceremony!

Congratulations!

No, he didn't say anything about the date of the ceremony.  Probably it would take within a month according to my friends.

I don't think it is going to take that long.

Stay dry and safe today!
