Thank you guys! Just a few observations about my interview:

1. If you owe taxes but you have an installment agreement and you pay your bill on time - there is nothing to worry about it. Just bring a copy of your most recent statement and a copy of your installment agreement.

2. I know what the instrcutions say about passport pics. Please do me a favor : bring two passport size photos just in case!!! I was asked for them, and thank God I had them with me!

3. Don't stress about the civics questions, there are pretty easy! Mine were: Who wrote the Declaration of Independece? ; Name 3 of the original states/colonies; What is the president's political party? ; What are the main political parties in the US?; Name one state that borders Mexico.; Who is the commander in chief of the military?

4. If you interview in Newark, please arm yourself with patience. My interview was at 11:00am. I was called in at 12pm, finished with interview around 12:40pm after interview officer consulted with supervisor. After that I sat there waiting  until 3:30pm to be called to sign my naturalization certificate. Following this, thd oath ceremony started at 4pm and I was out of the building around 4:45.

Good luck!🎉🎉🎉

Good point!

I owe taxes but have an agreement which she asked for, also she asked for my transcripts for the past 3 years, I sent pics with my application and thank god I brought 2 with me, also please review your application I was asked for every single question that are on the application.

other than that everything is super simple!

Finally finished with my interview and I was recommended for approval!!! :) The officer said that the next scheduled oath taking for Santa Ana is March 20th and that I should wait for the oath letter in the mail for instructions. The interview was easy and we were just casually chatting about my interests and my relationship with my husband. I was in at 10 am and was out of the building by 10:45 am. I wasn't asked for any additional documents at all. The officer only asked me for my driver's license, most recent passport and green card.

How long does it usually take to get the oath letter in the mail? Officer said it's still early and that I should be able to make it to the March 20th oath taking ceremony.

Below are the following questions that were asked - I don't remember all of it sorry I was nervous lol

1. What is the highest court in the US? Supreme Court

2. Who is our Vice President? Mike Pence

3. Who were brought to the US by the Europeans as slaves? Africans

4. How many justices are there in the Supreme Court? 9

Hello all. Hubby had his interview today and unfortunately, it did not go as planned. It was really busy for a Saturday and even though we were there at 9:30 am for a 9:45 am interview, there were many people there that had already had their interviews and were waiting for the oath ceremony. We noticed that when they called people to the window and they didn't have 2 passport photos, then they had to exit the building to take them and come back. At about 10:40 am they called the first set of people who passed the interview to go to their oath ceremony and then they separated those who were waiting to sign their oath certificates from those that still needed to be interviewed (such as my husband). He went in at 11:45 am and the officer took him to the offices one floor down. He proceeded to wait there until 12:10 pm for his interview. The interview lasted 30 minutes when he finally rejoined me.

My husband came out and told me that he passed his written and speaking exam, as well as the civics exam. However, the officer insisted that he needed to submit further proof of a bonafide marriage and refused to see all the documents he had. She said she needed to see the marriage certificate in its original language and translated to English (my husband had the original with him and I had a copy as well). She also stated he needed life insurance and utility bills (he also had these) and when he said he had it and pulled it out, she simply said it would need to be mailed in. She assumed he didn't have his 2 passport pictures and when he put them on the desk in front of her she was shocked he had them. On the N-14 she gave him it states that he now needs 3 passport photos, not 2 (since when do you need 3? According to the paperwork for the N-400, he technically doesn't even need 2 pictures, but we still had them). Needless to say, I am a mess and highly disappointed. The officer was not nice at all and was quite rude. If you are going to the Newark office, do not be discouraged though! Many of the officers were sweet and had a sense of humor, even joking around with everyone in the waiting room and putting people at ease. We were just not fortunate.

We have one month to send in documents that they already have and we do too. Then, we wait for a response...again.

Has this happened to anyone before?

I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you and your husband!

that is the only reason I waited to apply under the 5 year rule cause we had such a hard time with our ROC, we waited over a year for my 10 year green card and received 2 rfe,!!

had my interview this past Tuesday it was pretty easy, the only thing she asked me was for taxes and photos. Was recommended for approval at the spot!

send everything they asked for as soon as posible!

We even had a picture book with us and she didn’t want to see it when my husband put it on the desk. We had no issues with the ROC, but definitely didn’t anticipate such a hard time with applying for Naturalization under the 3 year rule.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear and I understand your frustration! All you can do now is to wait for the letter in the mail (unless you already have something in writing indicating what are they looking for, speciffically) and submit additional evidence. Again,  so sorry to see that the process is not over yet,  despite all this agonizing wait! 😕

Thank you. We have a N-14 telling us what we need, which is basically the exact same things we sent in for the ROC and what we had on hand to show them. Hoping they review everything and accept it the second time around.

I am so sorry about your experience. Sometimes I think it really just boils down to the immigration officer. It doesn't make sense for them to ask something to be mailed in when your husband already has it with him on the spot. They could've just easily taken his documents and included it with his file. I'm sorry..that is really disappointing. Hoping that you will receive a response back from them sooner rather than later. Good luck!

Thank you! We are not sure if after mailing in all the information he has to go back in line for another interview. If that is the case, then it is at least another 6 months of waiting.
