Actually I have received two pieces of paper in the letter from USCIS and one of them states that you should bring all document that can help your case.

Anyway, I did bring the tax document for the past 10 years but the officer never asked for it.

My case is a little complicated since I have 4 names

1 name on the green card (chinese name only)

2 name on the social security card (mix with chinese and english name but in the wrong order)

3 name for my credit card, tax, and school (english name)

4 name on my hong kong passport (mix with chinese and english name in the right order)

I suspect that's why i have been waiting for such a long period of time for interview.

I explain my case to the officer and i said there might be a mix up when i entered US back in 1997 and i thought the customs officer did not input my name correctly. But then she point out the customs officer input the name according to the birth certificate , not the passport.

Anyway, everything is sorted out and I also have my name changed in the process.

Ah yes I received that second piece of paper as well. Didn't pay attention to it until now that you mentioned it lol. But there's no mention of passport size pics. So I guess that's not needed?

And wow I'm glad that everything worked out with the name change.

Yeah it is weird, I have ask some coworkers who make a living by filling and filing all kind of uscis document. They said i have to mail in the passport photo, but since i have checked the *checklist*, i did not mail my photo. So when the officer asked me about passport photo i had no idea what she was talking about. But she gave me a chance to take photo and submit within the same day, went through the security twice was no fun though....

Guys what's the proof for selective service? I don't recall anything about it. Appreciate any help!

If you were on H1 or F1 between the ages 18 through 26 and were in the country , then it does not apply to you, as you were legal non-immigrant. But if it is otherwise and you were in US physically during those years of your age, then you were expected to register for selective services?

Looks like you were non-immigrant or so.. so you should be fine and in fact you will say not applicable in your N400.

So i had my interview yesterday day at Federal Plaza. room 8-800

The IO was very nice, polite and all business like. So no outside jokes nor depressing times.

My appointment was at 10, i came at 9, security line was very long but moving quick, Sec guys were rude af -_-

I reached to the room and finished my check in around 9:30, got called in shortly and done everything at 9:54.

So the interview was very very short and simple

She sworn me in. Proceeded right away with the tests, and then go through my application.

Asked for my passport, green card and 2 copy of my passport photos (thanks so much to @chungwai79), she did take my finger prints and photo at her office.

I applied through 3 years rule, she just asked if i still married and lived together.

Asked me if i were travel, when was the last time. I did travel outside US in January for 2 weeks, it was not in application so she took notes on it.

And then she show me the paper of info will show on my naturalization card, told me to check if there is any problem, then signed on it. She told me my oath will be scheduled in Brooklyn

Lastly, she show me the receipt of today interview, my case was "cant not make decision yet"

She told me the decision letter will come within 2 - 12 weeks, give them a call if I sill not receiving it after

She walked me out, that's all. Happened so fast that i didnt even have a chance to give her my new tax return, tax payment, banks and other updated paperwork. Or asked why i were not approved.

My case was frankly simple, had no problem prior application, so i guess because i traveled during application pending they need additional background check since last time was in July when i did my biometrics screening.

Hopefully will hear something soon. Below are the English test questions

Reading : Who lives in the White house?

Writing: The President lives in the White house.

Civic :

There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them

What are two rights of everyone living in the United States?

If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

Who is in charge of the executive branch?

What is one reason colonists came to America?

Why does the flag have 50 stars?

Hey guys, I just had my interview on Saturday along with the oath ceremony and I'm so happy to say that I'm done!! After a long 13 month journey, I'm happy to put this behind me.  Below is my experience for the interview:

Had my interview appointment for 10:30 am but I reached there at 10. By the time I got up to the floor, there were already like 100 people there. I had to submit interview letter to them, after which I was instructed to have a seat and wait.

Thus began my 2+ hour wait. Finally around 12:30, they called me in for my interview.

I must say the officer was super nice & talkative. We talked about what he used to do before, his views etc and had a very pleasant conversation.

He went over my application to confirm if everything was correct. I told him I got married so he asked for my marriage certificate (which fortunately I had brought along with me). He made copies of the marriage certificate, my license and my green card. He didn't ask for any other documents (tax returns, photos, bills) and we moved on to the test.

The few questions he asked me were

1. Who's the father of the United States? (Washington)

2. How many people in House of Representatives? (435)

3. Who is the chief Justice of the supreme Court? (John Roberts)

4. Which we was us involved in 1900?

5. How many years is a representative elected for? 2

The sixth one I don't remember.

After that, again I had to wait while the officer sent my application to another officer for verification.

Then they called me up to surrender my Green card & to check if all the details on my naturalization certificate were correct.

Again more waiting, where I literally feel asleep. And then finally around 2 PM, they took all of us in the auditorium for the oath ceremony, which was short & nice.

I had asked my officer why it took so long to process the application since it's only supposed to take 6-8 months. He said they had upgraded to a new system which is supposed to do all the background checks but after a week of implementing it, realized that the system was approving everyone due to a glitch. So they had to go back to the old system & reprocess everyone.

Anyways I hope you all found my review helpful. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting!
