They haven't cashed the cheque...

I'm out of status as of tomorrow--I expire June 3rd.  We have sent in our package.  USPS says they have received it.

They haven't cashed the cheque.  It's been over a week since they received it.  Will they forgive me being out of status a couple of days if the package was in their hands but they failed to input it?  I meant to send it in earlier, I really did, but my cat's been very very very sick (so money was an issue for the first 60 days of my window) and then when we financially recovered enough to send it in, I was held up at gunpoint and with that was very traumatic and as a result it just completely slipped my mind and I lost track of time for a bit until we realized that we had to get it in right away.

True.  But they won't cash the cheque tomorrow which means my NOA1 or whatever they call it for this round of processing will be dated after my greencard expires.  That won't mess everything up?  It's really been a cruddy three months for us and this on top of everything else is just making me bite my nails in terror.  I'm still not sleeping right.

Your NOA1 will be dated the day the received the i751. It took them almost two weeks to cash my money order, don't worry!

Oh good.  That's a HUGE relief.  So yours was dated for the day they signed for the package?

They received my package on the a Friday, it was dated the following Monday. I ended up sending it a week before my GC expired, so I didn't have anything for a week or so to show I was living here legally lol. The centers seem to have slowed down a little, so it takes a little longer for them to cash checks.

It's from when they receive your package not when the check has been cashed.

Don't worry, as people have stated whenever they received your package, you generally get the NOA1 from that date.  They didn't cash our check for a month.

My GC expired May 28, 2017. I mailed my I-751 packet on May 27th ( financial constraint also). Packet was delivered on May 30th. I'm still good, right? Help fellow VJ's. Thank you very much.

Well that fact that the 28th is a Sunday may be your saving grace...but a deadline is a deadline.

If it gets accepted and cheque cashed, then all good. If it gets returned you have some issues to deal with. Watch your account like a hawk for the cheque being cashed.

 

If you were insistent on cutting it that close why on earth didn't you send it a day earlier with guaranteed Saturday delivery?

No judgement, as I also cut it close to expiry, but I sent it Fedex next day by 9am to make absolutely sure it got there when it needed to be.

Was your cat being sick the reason you sent it in late?

Thank you very much for giving me hope there, lol! (28th being Sunday & 29th being Memorial Day). I really thought the filing date will be based on the date stamped on the packet. I admit it's my fault , but I also have to wait for some financial assistance. My bad also, I did not bother to read cases and stories here in Visa Journey website. If I did, I would have not done what I did. Well, let us just pray for the best now. Thank you very much.
