You missed the point, industry leaders see the competitive value in the green wave and have already built out their business plan to take advantage of it.  They are miles ahead of the Trump administration on this one.

If they saw that they'd be investing with the risk of their own money rather than looking for handouts from government. That speaks substantially louder than the image you try and portray.

But that's why they have a PR campaign like this, to make leftists think they're "green" all while doing what leftists supposedly hate, like polluting, avoiding taxes, etc. I give them a thumbs up for taking advantage of non-critical thinking people.

i'm seeing similarities in this thread and the chelsea/duerte thread. musk cannot support the paris agreement because he accepts gov funding and pollutes. chelsea cannot use her public platform to admonish disgusting comments about rape by a controversial leader because her father was once accused of rape.

That's a sure way to try and support a losing argument. Yep, you're right.

seems some are really trying to make "have a seat, snowflake" into a legitimate and reasonable rebuttal, to everything.

It's either that or find another unrelated event and create a fallacious argument.

But if the Paris agreement is just symbolic, then by pulling out of it Trump just gave his base more dog and pony? LOL.

Personally, I agree, he could have stayed in it for political reasons, then just ignored it like most of the other countries that signed on are planning to do.

I believe China is planning to ignore it at least until 2030 if at all.  Most of the other pledges by other countries are so low it is pathetic. Why did none of these countries sign on to Kyoto, because that agreement was binding.  Why did they sign onto Paris, because it is non-binding with no means of enforcement except for political shaming.

you said 'most of the other countries'

and i'm not really sure why you're whining about other country's pledges, the point is that everyone makes an effort and holds each other accountable to that group effort. considering you don't think there's any reason for any effort at all since this is all hogwash, why do you care if some countries pledges are 'pathetic'.

In my opinion, this was the whole reason that it was good to pull out of it.  Why should the US saddle its economy when other countries can just ignore it.  At least with what Trump did, he was up front, and was not going to stay in it for purely political, or public relation purposes.  Does their mean we are gong to switch on a bunch of coal plants tomorrow, end the technology increases to extract NG, go back to 8mpg vehicles?  I think not, if the economy is allowed to grow, the technology will also continue to grow.

well i don't agree that is what trump did. i don't believe a word that comes out of trump's mouth until i read a few fact checks. typical con man - his whole speech was packed full of lies and mistruths. but if you don't believe climate change is real or an issue - what difference does it make?

I think we already covered the whole politicians are hypocritical topic.  There isn't one from either side I find trustworthy.  However, I live and work in the real world and I see the drive for efficiency gains.  This is not going to stop because we stepped away from Paris just as it didn't stop when we refused to sign Kyoto.
