Curious question about dual citizenship

My hubby is a current 10 year greencard holder and we have a 7 month old. I never really thought about it till recently since we're traveling to Manchester in September and having to get him a passport. I was wondering if he technically a dual citizen? Also really deep rabbit hole question, my husband adopted my son from my first marriage so he is now technically his biological father so would that make him dual as well?.. Like I said I'm sorry I'm just curious :)

Your son may well be a UKC, did you register his birth, does he have a UK passport. Most unlikely his step son has a claim unless you are looking to move back.

Just because he adopted him that doesn't make him a biological parent. Biological means he is genetically related as in DNA.

He might be a dual citizen though you'd have to check with the other country to see their requirements and qualifications for it.

Your husband is not a dual citizen. He needs to be a citizen first. If your son is depends on the UK laws on the matter of adoptive children.

The  word from the home office https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/583385/MN1_Guide_January_2017.pdf#page14 Starts at the bottom of p. 14.

it speaks of being adopted by British citizen parents, as in plural,

My brother adopted his wife's child from her previous marriage. They were living in Mexico at the time. My brother lived there for 8 years and met his now-wife there. His wife is Mexican. Her son is also Mexican. The son did not become a British citizen when he was adopted. The child they had together (birth child) in Mexico is both British and Mexican from birth. They subsequently moved to the U.K. and his wife now has British citizenship too after being in the U.K. for the required period of time. The son became a British citizen on the same day.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!
