I did it the best I could and I realized I made two mistakes. On some of the forms that you sign I just signed my first and last name, I did not sign with my middle name.

letter of intent to marry and on a couple of other documents that require a signature)

I also realized that on the letter of intent I typed in the wrong date because we had both done our letters when we were together in Europe last month but when I signed my letter this morning, I signed it with today's date😐

Is this going to cause a huge delay in the process? Is there a possibility they're going to send the paperwork back and reject it because of simple paperwork errors like that?

Because the dates don't match or because I did not sign with my middle name?

Has anybody had this experience of getting paperwork back or getting rejected because of errors like this?

is there a form for people who panic, like myself?🙄

If you messed up you'll get a RFE. You'll have to fix the errors and send them back. You don't have to sign your full name, you sign based on how you regularly sign.

It seems crazy to me that I would get an RFE because I signed and dated for the day that I sent it but the letter was dated when I typed the letter.

I guess it just depends how strict they are.

Thanks for your input.🙂

Both should be fine.  People draft letters and sign them at a later date all the time,  there's no issue with that.

I've always signed only my first and last name.

Exactly, it just depends. Some people get a RFE for dumb things others don't get any and miss all kinds of things it's a bit of luck.

You'll either get an RFE or have to fix it at the interview. No dramas!

Can they RFE you at any point in the process or is it only prior to getting your NOA1?

thank you

The NOA1 is just to state that they received your case, process your payment, and make sure you have all the correct forms.  No RFE's are issued before NOA1.  If the payment is not correct or you do not have the correct forms (for instance if you submitted the I-130 for a K1 visa), they would just return your case to you.

RFE's are generated when your case is being adjudicated and they need additional information or paperwork from you.

The silver lining to receiving an RFE is that you know they're working on your case!

First let me say, stop panicking. You'll have plenty of time to do that during this whole process, no sense on getting an early start.

I didn't sign my middle name either, just the first and last. I doubt you get an RFE for that. A typical signature is a full first and last name.

Second, as long as the dates on your letters of intent are significantly outdated you should be fine. Sounds like to me that you writing the 2nd date will just brings your certification more current than the typed date.

But worse case scenario, you receive an RFE it's an easy fix so make sure you have it ready IF it comes.  But they're not gonna flat out deny your petition.

Don't be afraid of an RFE because that is better than waiting months and months and no one even touches your case.

Good luck on your journey!!!

I never sign with my middle name. I would be extremely surprised if you got it sent back for that.

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man.... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

Stay calm until you have an official reason not to be.. most people sign their first and last name. Pertaining to the dates, my fiance and I had two different dates as well and we didn't have any issues, I think you'll be fine.

Don't think you will have a problem signing without your  middle name.   And the date you signed the letter of intent should be the date you signed it so I think you are okay there.

In our case: In the section where my wife had to show where she had lived for the last several years I missed one day of her life and we got RFE.  But I guess they have to draw the line somewhere.  It only held us up by about 3 weeks.  I think you are okay.  Take a deep breath.  It will all be worth it in the end.  We have been together now for almost 5 years and we now have a 2 month old beautiful baby girl.  God is good!  God bless you both, David
