So I arrived in the US under the VWP to visit my now wife and help her move. I was in the process of obtaining a work visa. However during the stay we decided we wanted to get married and therefore we did. I told the border agent that I had a work visa in process and he was happy that my intentions were to leave, and he was correct. 

 

I told the USCIS that I was in the process of obtaining a work visa prior to getting married in a document when I filed. 

 

Will this be a problem when it comes to the interview stage? 

 

I am assuming not because my intentions were to leave when I entered the country. I just wanted to hear what other people think!

Should be fine. If you entered with all intentions of returning, then getting married spur of the moment shouldn't be an issue.

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

 

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

That's what I thought. It's just pre interview nerves that make me freak out haha! Appreciate the comment!

Agreed, your life took a spur of the moment change with the decision to get married.  I don't think you will have any issues.  However, they very well may ask you about it at the interview.  Just tell the truth and you should be fine.

I'll always tell the truth. That's the one thing I've done the entire process. We have nothing to hide. I told the border agent the truth and so I feel like it'll be fine. Because if the border guy deemed me legal to be in the country then adjusting shouldn't be a problem since my life did take a spur of the moment change.

I also entered on VWP and not one question was asked about my intent. It didn't come up at all.
