If he is in the middle of ROC and you are divorced he should file it as divorced. Also, ,he should have received an extension letter and have his expired GC as prove for employment.  Im am 99 percent sure that his work can do something called e verify to check his current immigration status. I might be wrong, but Im sure someone else on visa journey may enlighten you further as with regards to this.

Usually, if they used EVerify and an error popped, it's the employee/prospect employee the one that needs to remedy the issue.

 

He could show them the 1-year extension and give them a copy, but something must be triggering the E-Verify and it could be something silly. What does the paper he received say?

The extension letter and the green card  should be proof in itself. He will not be given  an  i55i  stamp unless the letter  is expired or the gc  lost/stolen.    You cant file for ROC jointly if you  are separated. He would have to file  a divorce waiver and wait for the divorce..  Some one who is going through  ROC and separated or divorced may be  able to  help you with regard to that.

probably are. I dont know much about e verify. However, I do know to check my status online its the number from the bio-metric letter you use and not the extension letter.
