Hello VJ family! Would anyone happen to know whether on the tax transcript do they care about the gross income or taxable income?

I thought it was gross income, but I could be wrong.  Anyone else know about this?

Hi, just received the "Now in the queue awaiting an interview" letter. Nice to see some progress.  Have all of you received this letter already? Especially for those who have been waiting for an interview date for over 2 weeks? My status still say "AT NVC" and my AOS info is not there which I understand is normal. ;)

===

The National Visa Center (NVC) received all the requested documentation for this immigrant visa case.  The applicant is now in the queue awaiting an interview appointment overseas, where a consular officer will adjudicate the applicant’s visa application.

NVC schedules appointments one month in advance.  The U.S. Embassy tells us what dates they are holding interviews, and NVC fills these appointments as they become documentarily qualified.  Most appointments are set within three months of NVC’s receipt of all requested documentation.  However, before applicants in a numerically limited (preference) visa category can receive an appointment, their priority date must also be current.  This can delay receipt of an appointment.  You can track your priority date using the Visa Bulletin on travel.state.gov.

When an appointment is available, we will notify the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable).  The applicant can prepare now by reading about the embassy’s interview requirements online at nvc.state.gov/interview. Thank you for your patience.

The embassy may require additional documents at the interview.  For example, if the following three items are all true, the applicant must bring a new police certificate to the visa interview:

He or she is more than 16 years old;
The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than one year ago; and
He or she still lives in the country that issued the certificate.
The applicant should not make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the embassy has issued a visa.

Sincerely,

National Visa Center

I received this notice about a week after I got the CC confirmation over the phone. After this I called each week (this is the third week since my cc) with no good news. After calling on week two after my cc I was told I will be informed when I get an interview. I kind of got the impression that calling was frustrating for them, and was not really giving me any new information. I won't call this week. I guess I will just wait for the new round of emails to see if I get lucky. I know my embassy doesn't get nearly as many cases as some of the other ones on here but I suspect because of my visa category I will experience delays for scheduling. I think the spouse cases are processed with higher priority (I understand and agree that there is a higher urgency being separated from a spouse, than there is for me to get back to my job - but my gosh this waiting and not being able to plan anything or get on with life is torture of the most acute kind).

This might be common knowledge, or if this is useful at all on here but I thought that I should share in case someone was wondering. You can go to the following page to get a rough idea of  how busy your area is, and how many cases are processed by your embassy monthly. I believe the most recent data is for march and April. (in case you all are like me and are quietly going mad as you wait for news :blink::D)  https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/statistics.html

For specifically immigrant visas this is the link. https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/law-and-policy/statistics/immigrant-visas/monthly-immigrant-visa-issuances.html

I decided to do the consular processing instead of adjustment of status because I wanted to be able to leave the states and see friends and family that I had not seen for the better part of the last decade (I bitterly regret this decision. I would advise adjustment of status to anyone who is considering what option to use for their green card.)

I am not sure if this is the correct location to post this: I have noticed there are very few employment based members here. For those out there, after the roll-out of the new NVC website - my case has looked exactly the same. It has been "AT NVC" since before I got my CC. The usual signs, I'm guessing will be of no use to us.

Just one question? Have you added yourself to our spreadsheet? You've been asking all these questions but you're not contributing.. Not very nice on your part.. I've asked you several times, so has @chamma and @PP_2016 but we still don't see you on there.. Yes, we have a lot of cases from India, but your contribution on the spreadsheet will help others who are in the same situation as you.. If you don't want to add yourself, that's fine but please let us know so we can stop asking you..

How do I add myself to the spreadsheet ?

I believe it will be end of this month or early July. The CC that are received early of the month get interview dates mid of the month and the CC after mid of the month get an interview date at the end of the month so for them the interview date should be end of this month or early July. Also the US embassy in Islamabad is closed for 3 days this week so there may couple days of delay.

Good to know! :) Here's hoping we all get them by end of month/start of month. :)

I 864 says Gross , so i assume only gross income matters.

@KaurN

Ok, found these that may help define what we are looking at here.  Hope this helps!

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/tax-tips/Taxes-101/What-Is-Taxable-Income-/INF15613.html

Also this....

Taxable income is the amount of income used to calculate an individual's or a company's income tax due. Taxable income is generally described as grossincome or adjusted gross income minus any deductions or exemptions allowed in that tax year.
