Few people in this forum have attended the interview with their spouses. So there is no restrictions for that it seems. However every embassy behaves differently.

@djtoni0313 you can call NVC and find out your interview date. When was your CC? Do you have a checklist? Did you get your case expedited? You need to give some details for anybody to help you with answers. Please explain your case.

@djtoni0313

Have you had a chance to look at our spreadsheet? Open to all NVC scan dates in 2017 (mail, email, CEAC upload)

NVC Case Status Spread Sheet -  2017 (save this link in your browser)

Please visit the following, this will update the spreadsheet with your info.

NVC Case Status Questionnaire -  2017

VERY IMPORTANT: please keep your confirmation email from "google forms" to edit your status as your case moves along.. Yes, You CAN bookmark the questionnaire link but only after opening it up via email. I have no access to resend your original questionnaire to you. Here are instructions on how to edit/save the questionnaire

@JBMG

My checklist says below:

______F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:______________________________________

We reviewed the Affidavit of Support form and supporting financial documents you submitted. While we will schedule your case for an interview, there is something incomplete or missing. This could affect the Consular Officer's ability to make a decision on your case.

On the attached Affidavit of Support Assessment Letter, we have put an "X" by each item you need to correct.

If your Affidavit of Support form needs correction:  Fill out a new form online.  Print, sign and send the form to the principal applicant so he or she can take them to the visa interview. Do not send the updated form to NVC.

If there are supporting documents missing:  Send the missing documents to the principal applicant so he or she can take them to the visa interview. Do not send the documents to NVC.

After NVC schedules the immigrant visa interview, we will send you an appointment letter with additional details. You do not need to contact NVC or send us additional financial information at this time.

You can access instructions for Affidavit of Support forms and read Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) online at nvc.state.gov/aos (English) or nvc.state.gov/aos/espanol (Spanish).

On the AOS Assessment Letter which is the last page of the file:

These instructions refer only to the Form I-864 completed by the financial sponsor named above. The National Visa Center (NVC) reviewed your Form I-864 Affidavit of Support. This form had one or more sections with missing or incorrect information; was missing required supporting documents; or both. Please review the instructions below. You will need to correct your Form I-864 and collect missing documents as requested.

Do not send the corrected form and documents to NVC. Instead, give all requested documents to the visa applicant, who should present them to the consular officer during the visa interview. Don't forget to sign your Form I-864 by hand. Your signature cannot be typed or electronic. The applicant may bring a photocopy of the signed form to the interview.

Failure to submit the requested documents at the time of the visa interview can delay this case. If you need to complete a new Form I-864, you can access the form and instructions online at uscis.gov/i-864. Additional information can be found at nvc.state.gov/aos (English) or nvc.state.gov/aos/espanol (Spanish).

You do not need to contact NVC at this time. After we schedule the immigrant visa interview, we will send the applicant an appointment letter. ===================================================================== ====== Please make the below corrections to your Form I-864 or gather the requested financial evidence:

[x] You must submit the following financial evidence:

[x] A copy of every W-2 form that relates to your___________2016________________________ tax returns

****

Since we don't have W2, will just bring salary records which my employers provide to me every month. Hope it is fine!

Thanks PP :) Great info here ! Read these and was even in contact with some people from these forums before submitting my AOS. :) My AOS form was good and I didn't have any problems with it. My automatic checklist received was exactly as I had expected from the NVC. Back in April, A NVC rep explained that this would happen.. Also, had read that info on the forums as well.  My confusion started though with my conversation with the NVC rep last week, saying different information that was listed on my checklist.... But several people have reached out to me via private message and on here explaining that even if assets qualify you, it's a good idea to have a joint-sponsor ready at the interview.  Was planning on that anyways. so that's what i'm going to do. :)   Thanks again

Yes was sad to read your conversation with NVC rep. Good that you have the additional info you needed.

@JBMG

On the pre-interview checklist from US Consulate in Hong Kong, for your reference:

For family-based visa applications:

 The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s. If the income of the sponsor’s spouse is being used on the Affidavit of Support, the spouse must complete Form I-864A.

 Proof of your U.S. petitioner’s status and domicile in the United States (photocopy of a U.S. passport, naturalization certificate, or lawful permanent resident card).

 Proof of your own personal assets if the sponsor’s income is not sufficient to meet U.S. poverty guidelines. You must complete Form I-864A if using your own assets.

 Evidence of the relationship between the petitioner and visa applicant (such as photographs, letters, emails, remittance receipts, joint assets, school records, etc.).

"These instructions refer only to the Form I-864 completed by the financial sponsor named above."

They're asking for your Joint sponsor's 2016 tax transcript or tax return with w2's.. Even if you already sent them in, they just want to make sure you have those with you at the interview..  No need to bring your pay stubs from your HK employer because you won't be working there in the US.. Now if your company is transferring you to the US, that info may be useful. Bring a letter stating that you'll be working there..  But that's not what they're asking for. They're asking for your joint-sponsor's info.. :)

And yeah, in your case, they're def asking for an updated/corrected AOS form with 2016 information.

Yeah, I agree, I am def going to have a joint sponsor.. Don't want to risk being without.. hopefully I won't need it but it's better to play it safe..  Don't know about you, but it's def the most frustrating part of this process.. It's not so easy to ask for a joint sponsor.. be it friends  or family..  Thanks for your feedback and encouragement. :) Keep us posted on how your interview goes. Coming up soon!! Wish you both much luck!! :)

Thanks! I'll be sure to keep everyone updated!

HAHAH, so cute. nothing to be sad about. Just to clarify, I wasn't needing any additional info. Was just saying and agreeing with another forum poster that the NVC can be misleading as it clearly says in the i864 instructions (which I had quoted in that post) that what the NVC rep was telling me was wrong. ;)

I agree 💯 % with you on NVC misleading information. I also read about the 3x and 5x distinction you wrote somewhere yesterday. ☺️

I don't have anything to update though.  I included 2016 income on AOS form already and sent in my 1040/2555ez copies as well.  I did order 2016 tax transcript 2 weeks ago.  Hopefully it will arrive before the interview.  We are using assets so no joint-sponsor info was provided..

Same here, just doing assets.. strange how they're asking you for your w2's when they didn't ask for mine.. I had included a letter in my NVC package stating that I didn't have w2's since I hadn't worked in the US.  Maybe that's why I wasn't requested to submit them..
