Hi, I'm curious if you resolved the issue. Have you submitted the affidavit? Did they issue a temporary refusal or what status is your application in right now? Hope all goes well, it must be very frustrating to go through this.

Yes.  Lawyer sent it out today.  Should keep finger crossed.

@Erin&Alex any thoughts on my situation?

Not really sure on how the extensions work for the interview phase.  While they are acceptable for tax season and submitting to NVC, I would think it would be ok during your interview as well.  Maybe some one else who has experience with this can answer a bit more thoroughly, but I see no reason to worry if you have all previous tax years including your tax extension (with proof that you actually filed one to the IRS) and I would even include the W-2 for 2016 to go with it.  If you have already gotten your 2016 tax return completed I would bring that.  Each persons situation is different but I feel if you are honest and you do everything right and provide consistent and legit evidence to your situation you should be ok.

  1. If NVC only reviews the documents to be sent to NVC, I presume I can still carry the tax extension application and it's acknowledgement.
  2. Yes, I shall carry the 2016 W2, @JBMG also suggested the same.

Many Thanks for taking time to provide an input.

I would presume so yes.  If that is all you have is the tax extension along with everything else, then I would assume you will be ok.  A tax extension is a completely legal and acceptable thing.  You had no checklists from NVC and were not told to provide anything further (unless instructed further), so I think you are safe. :)  In any case, update us with how things go.  It helps tremendously.

Hi - I'm sure this topic has come up several times before, but I'm wondering what's taking so long for us to receive our interview date.  We're doing an IR-1 from Canada, our case was completed by NVC on May 24th and we still haven't heard anything about an interview.  It looks like others on here have had cases completed near or after ours and have already received an interview date.  Does anyone know if this wait is normal for the Montreal consulate or whether there are reasons that other cases could get an interview date ahead of ours?  Hope this makes sense!  We new to VisaJourney and are looking for any help we can get at this point since NVC can't tell us anything!  Thanks!

I don't understand waiting for an interview date.  I remember paying for it and registering online.  We never received any additional information. I got the New case number.  He contacted  the embassy, they sent him a generic email. It had all the links to payments, medical and setting up interview.

Hi @Jen & Paul and @Cawain

There are 37 of us waiting for an interview date.. Tagged you in this forum where we're all preparing for the interview, waiting for an interview date or have already had the interview..

@Jen & Paul I think it's strange that you didn't receive your interview date as other may cases for Canada all received their interview dates. See our spreadsheet.. Have you called the NVC or are you waiting for an email?

Meanwhile.. Here is our spreadsheet.

NVC Case Status Spread Sheet -  2017 (save this link in your browser)

Please visit the following, this will update the spreadsheet with your info.

NVC Case Status Questionnaire -  2017

VERY IMPORTANT: please keep your confirmation email from "google forms" to edit your status as your case moves along.. Yes, You CAN bookmark the questionnaire link but only after opening it up via email. I have no access to resend your original questionnaire to you. Here are instructions on how to edit/save the questionnaire

Thank you, JBMG

I received a checklist today from NVC regarding bringing my 2016 tax transcript or 2016 tax return to the interview since I filed an extension as well. If I was you then I will just file the 2016 tax and send a copy of the return to the applicant.

It depends on the CO but mostly I have seen many cases where the applicant was requested to bring the tax return if it is pass April 15.

Also can you tell me if you sent the following to the NVC?

  1. 2015 tax returns +W2s
  2. Federal Tax Return
  3. 2016's W2s

Also, have you filed 2016 returns as "Married filing Separately"?

I agree with newcomer, have your husband do both the 2015 and 2016 taxes.. "married filing separately" You can't file since you don't have a US TIN or SSN.. IRS told me to write "NRA - NO US TIN, NO SSN" in the SSN of my 1040 form.

He can file today, bring copies to your interview.. Honestly that the best advice.. This way your safe.. Not sure what the benefits of trying to file together since you haven't been living in the US in the same household?
