Best of luck to everyone waiting for an interview and for their visas! Husband arrived yesterday! POE was no big deal at all-no hassle...his biggest issue was the airline ruining one of his bags and flight delays. Excited to finally start our lives living together! Thanks again to everyone on here-will continue to follow and help out if we can.

Congratulations!!

Hi All, I am new to this forum. I am hoping someone here has experience with I-864 at the interview and can help with my question below.

When I submitted the I-864 to NVC, I had not file the 2016 Tax so it included tax info for 2015 and past. My spouse interview will soon be scheduled and I am coming across different information on which I-864 to take to the interview. I recently filed my 2016 Tax so which I-864 will need to be taken to the interview.

- New I-864 that includes the 2016 Tax information

OR

- Copy of the I-864 that was submitted to NVC (which contains Tax info from 2015 and past)

OR

- Take both (new I-864 and the copy of the one submitted to NVC) to be on the safe side

I will like to avoid any issues at the interview so it will be great if someone has gone through similar situation and can share their experience.

I guess a copy of your old and your new one...The new one should have an inked signature since it was not submitted to the NVC. Double check all the details before taking it to NVC.

I appreciate your response but who should I double check with before going to the interview. I guess as you say safer option is to take both but I wanted to know if someone has gone thru similar situation and in that case which one did the Consulate ask to submit.

U mean a copy of the new one with inked signature as Embassy now don't insist on the original i864 even if it's a corrected one.

I personally do not know anybody. But I have read many on VJ who had submitted their AOS  with 2015's returns to the NVC (i.e. even before filing the APR 2016 return) But when they had interviews in May they had filed in 2016 returns and had an updated AOS. So I have read responses where they carried an updated i864. I am sorry that I do not know anybody.

Well if you have submitted the original 1864 to NVC and you have no modifications you can carry the scanned copy. That's as per the new rule.

But if you have modifications, It needs to be the original( with inked signature) as the NVC also hasn't verified the same.

Hope I am not confusing.

No, not even for after modification one needs to carry the 'wet ink'. A copy of inked signature suffice. I am writing it in order to clear the confusion if anyone has. To be specific, one should refer to the instructions they have received in the checklist (if any), else in general the Embassy do not insist on the 'wet ink'. However it should not be electronic signature. So, the petitioner can do the modification, sign it, scan it and send it to the applicant, then applicant can take the print copy to the interview.

Please refer to the below, very useful. Lets make all the efforts to make people aware by providing concrete information.

YAY!!!!!!! Congrats!! When are you heading back to the US? Enjoy your time in Vietnam. Take special care of your wife in this time. Not so easy to leave home, family, and friend even though it's exciting to have a new home elsewhere.

I understand wet signatures are not required. I also understand if the checklist mentions that the AOS needs to be amended, you can still carry a scanned copy. This instance is when you are modifying the AOS on your own because you have filed a tax return post it. So I don't know if this instance is also applicable.

I have read this before...The URL does not explicitly say so.. If applicable.. good for all of us :)

Haha. A document will always say what it has to say. Its different people who understand it differently. Per my understanding one should always refer to the instructions given in their dedicated the checklist rather that seeking just opinion based on their personal understanding.
