I concur.. If you could, i would suggest paying ahead of time that way the processing is in place before your arrival in USA.

I have a question What if  not ready to move but I want to go to the us to set things up or visit. But my first time going would be not my official move.

I want to go after my interview because I had a religious function to atten but I won't move until after that. Is it fine that I do my 'Poe ' at that trip and then come

back after the weekend to home. Then I can pack everything and make

my official move over there. And my green card can come in the meantime so when I officially move I can work. Is that fine ?

I see no reason why you cannot do that.... Provided:

1. You make that first trip to the USA after your visa is approved. Get stamped in at the POE, and make sure you pay for your Green card after you get your visa, so it can be ready not too long after you reach USA...   https://public-prod-elis2.uscis.dhs.gov/efile/app/app/iv/#!/

2. Do not leave the USA without your Green-card in Hand!

3. You may leave the U.S. multiple times and reenter, as long as you do not intend to stay outside the U.S. for 1 year or more.

https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/820/~/can-a-u.s.-lawful-permanent-resident-leave-multiple-times-and-return

4. Obviously you must come back to the USA as soon as you can so you can begin to contribute to the good and the order of the country .... Pay taxes " That's if you intend to Naturalize someday "

Others are welcome to Chime in....

Hope this helps answer your question? Safe travels B-)

Not necessary. The stamped visa acts as a temporary Gren Card for up to one year, proving LPR status and ability to work and reenter the US.

While many people get their green card in a month or so, there are sometimes delays which stretch  it out  to over 6 months.. you cant know when yours will be sent

Thank you @Dee elle @Wizzle

Dear VJ family,

Happy to report that I entered the US today through Chicago without much hassle. The only long part was the waiting part...40 minutes to get to an agent and then 30 minutes waiting on secondary inspection which ended up being a minute (passport handed over and finger printed)...Overall very good.

Yeheeeyyy what a great news :) such a heartwarming message Tanish, wishing you best of everything

I feel ya, i have always depend here in VJ than any other :)

I myself went alone, :) some said it does help if you are with your spouse, perhaps to lessen the nervousness because being with them depends on the interview

anyway, on my opinion, just try to relax and compose yourself before answering, and always be polite and put a smile on your face would be a PLUS :) good luck

thanks for your input

Thank you! so from what I understand, its optional if we pay the green card fee before the POE?

Thank you. I'm not sure if this is optional as to what RKJ said above.

Thank you :)

Yes, just dont forget to pay, because as soon as you pay, they will start producing greencard, i paid mine
