Sure my family also offered to take care later, but I just didn't want to make my dad roam around with government department. You know how it is. Also my company is very small and the HR didn't even know how to approve someone's KYC. I showed her how to do it. She doesn't check regularly for any new approvals she may have to attend to. Recently we are facing an issue in it the digital signature is not working and hence they can't approve any KYC. They have raised a complaint with PF office, but I have no hope of that getting resolved any time soon. Luckily I found a person who works in PF office who said he will take care of offline claim soon as I have my Visa. I will collect my passport tomorrow and apply for settlement on Friday.

Considering the technical issues at your work place it's a blessing in disguise to find someone who can help. That too from  PF office itself. Mine is an MNC. A BIG BIG firm. Big player in US market. And touchwood they are so employee friendly. We don't even have to worry about anything. The moment my last working day was confirmed, they did all the income tax calculations on pro rata basis and adjusted everything. Also it gives me the benefit that they know i am still going to be part of the same organisation but at a different geographical location. And yes I totally understand when it comes to getting something done at government department. But I didn't mean to that extent. I only meant that if anything gets stuck in between my family can provide the relevant documents to HR. Ultimately it's HR who has to get done everything. I hope everything gets done smoothly for you before you leave. I am sure somebody would be here with your parents to take care of them.

Just a quick shout-out to all the people here on VJ. You lot have been a great help. Those of you who are new and are scared of the horrible immigration stories you have heard, don't despair, you will find great help here.

All the members of my family were so scared of all the stories they have heard about visa refusals and getting into AP limbo and all that, they were starting to get to me. Sceptic that I am, I didn't believe them all but when you start hearing more stories you get curious. I stumbled upon this site, in May last year (I never before had any intention of going to US, not even for a visit; so I had no idea about this source of immense knowledge on the subject) and started studying many cases where they were stuck at various stages. Some were genuine but they are a very VERY small percentage. I always had an argument with family when they freak out and instruct me how to go about immigration. I would rather hear from a VJ veteran than my family in this matter who had never visited this site or even USCIS for that matter.

Sorry for going off of tangent. Long story short, if you follow the guidelines here and take good advices from some knowledgeable people here (of course not all advice are legit. You have to sort out, but you will most likely get the solution) you are less likely to meet failure. Most of the cases stuck in limbo are due to the lack of preparedness and in some cases fraudulent intent. If your relationship is genuine, and you have all the docents you have nothing to worry about.

Thank you very much VJ. I fully intend to give back to the community what I have received and more.

Congratulations!!!!

Yeheeeyyy what a great news :) such a heartwarming message Tanish, wishing you best of everything

I feel ya, i have always depend here in VJ than any other :)

Good Morning everyone:

I have been following this topic for awhile and I wanted to just thank everyone for sharing their experiences. I am still waiting for my case to be completed so all the stories I am reading about your experiences are really helpful for when it is my turn.

That being said, I have 2 questions for those who have completed the interview process.....

Did you go alone or did you go with your spouse to the interview?  Do you feel it made a difference?

I myself went alone, :) some said it does help if you are with your spouse, perhaps to lessen the nervousness because being with them depends on the interview

anyway, on my opinion, just try to relax and compose yourself before answering, and always be polite and put a smile on your face would be a PLUS :) good luck

You have to pay green card processing fee of 220 $ after you receive your Visa and before POE.

Thank you. I'm not sure if this is optional as to what RKJ said above.
