@abfar This is normal, because they want the updated year-2016.  All you need is it have a new AOS filled with the current tax year of 2016 and the 2016 IRS transcripts.

@beppenyc Congratulations. Good luck on your coming interview. :)

Thank you

Sorry it's been that long you saw your family. We all know that is hard not seeing loved ones for so long....I see your CC is June 6th. Hopefully you get your Interview date soon. You are almost there... :)

You are so welcome. We are happy for you both. I know it feels good to be done with this long process. Congratulations to you both and wishing you all the best in your future endevours in USA.

Thanks for leaving that review. It would benefit everyone attending the same embassy as you.

A big congratulations to you. You are welcome and we are glad for you.

Congratulations!!! That was a speedy delivery of SSN " 7 days " from POE date ..... Welcome to America and good luck with your job hunt. :)

Sorry the Office mixed up your name. It should't take that long to process your SSN upon arrival. Yes, In all states, You need a valid SSN to verify who you are, without it, nothing much can really be done! It's a vital piece of ID/Number in the USA. I will say, hang in there, get your SSN, then get a DL instead of getting a State ID, as that would be a waste of money as you will still need DL later if you want to drive. You only need " A state ID or a DL " as a proof of ID. Hang in there, i'm sure this would be resolved for you soon. The long wait is over, and you now in America. Welcome home and enjoy your stay :)

Have you filled your 2016 taxes yet? They know this is June, and by law every-one in America should have filled their 2016 taxes by now. They want to see that. Request for a transcript from IRS and take that with you, and that should take care of that request. All the best .

Yaaah!!! Happy for you. I know you have been waiting for a very long time... :). Hang in there, this is almost over. " Ready Status " is good .

Thank you....

Hey everyone,  got case complete June 1 just waiting to hear on an interview at the Montreal embassy. Anyone know the timeline from the nvc to interview?

also I was reading here about the ssn, does it come with the cr1 visa ? Or we have to go and apply right after port of entry? I have a job lined up over there so I'd like to work a soon as I can.

We had a similar experience.  POE was April 29, and no Social Security Card by May 25.  We went into the SS office on May 26 and the officer confirmed that no record was on file; we  applied for a card (and SSN) there, and it came in the mail after one week.

@Duncan21 and @thegreatphoenix thank you for the update, am waiting for my SSN As well

Interview varies, they said (the NVC) it depends on the embassy where the interview will took place,

when we submitted DS260 there's a question about SSN there, that you will tick if you want to apply SSN, however, some members said that even if they ticked the box, they need to go to the SSN office personally, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best

best of luck on upcoming interview

Well, that was a difficult morning, but it's all worth it because we got my husband approved! I accompanied him to the interview, and I truly think it made a huge difference. I had all the marriage proof assembled and they didn't look at it at all. Very relieved right now, as the interview went pretty rough, but at the end he said all the papers were in order and he would issue the visa!

What do you mean by "rough" if you dont mind?

From what I understand, they ask for the sealed medical report at interview. But you can email the embassy and explain your situation. maybe they can make an exception for you.

We decided just to eat the cost and get this done by the books as possible. We were scared they would want to reschedule the interview. Thanks through!

It was from my understanding you are allowed to work basically after POE, the visa its self guarantees right to work? Can anyone confirm? I would guess you couldn't start working/getting paid until you have a SSN, but could be hired?
