That's extremely frustrating.. Have you been in contact with your embassy?  Maybe they can be better at assisting you in this situation..

I haven't contacted the embassy because it says on the case completed email:

"The National Visa Center (NVC) received all the requested documentation for this immigrant visa case." -- this is on the first paragraph.

"The U.S. Embassy tells us what dates they are holding interviews, and NVC fills these appointments as they become documentarily qualified.  Most appointments are set within three months of NVC’s receipt of all requested documentation." -- this is on the second paragraph

My interpretation of this is NVC will schedule you for an interview within three months after case completion. Or is the three months from the scan date? Cos if it's this one (latter), then I'm past three months. If it's the former, I'm still within 3 months.  Do you think this interpretation is correct? Because someone else told me it's "3 months from scan date."

Yeah, I think it's from CC.. Well that's a long wait for you.. And seeing the following.. doesn't look like calling the embassy helps you much... Sorry that the NVC can't be blunt with you. Sometimes they just don't know the answers.. Which i guess is normal as they're dealing with calls from all over the world.. But yeah, I wonder in your case, if it could be because of your visa class or priority date?.. This is why it could be a good idea to contact your embassy..  Just to get some information..

I was a little concerned on this topic. This "medical test" to be taken within three weeks from the date of the interview - has not been specified on Instructions for Indian consulates. Though this query was posted by VJers from Pakistan &/ or India ; it could help people from elsewhere to point to the CORRECT source of information.

Mumbai - These are the reference URLs for Mumbai Consulate which details on Instructions for Medical Exam

https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Medical/BMB - Mumbai.pdf
https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/BMB - Mumbai.pdf

Attached are also snippets where the Embassy instructions clearly state that

  • As soon as you have an interview date you schedule the medical test
  • And has to be done atleast 7 days prior to your interview date.

For other countries - here is the URL where you could select your desired consulate and check on rules (if this is not known already).

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/prepare/medical-examination.html

Hope this helps!

No, haven't received it yet.. but I imagine within 24/48 hours... I was already able to register our interview appointment though with our embassy.. So for sure I know it's not changing. :) Each embassy process is different but ours requires us to register our appointment once we receive the letter.. But since I already had the required info, i registered us anyways.. And sure enough, when i inputted our info, everything appeared, his interview date and time, full name, etc..  So i know we're safe and it's not changing..  Keep us posted about your p4 letter. I'll do the same. :)

HK Police would send one to embassy directly so we were not able to include it in our package, but I did include a letter to explain.  I explained this to the rep but she said they have to have a copy so I must send it in...

Sorry that you had to go through this!!.. hope you get it sorted soon

I called the US Embassy in Manila a few minutes ago. The rep explained if the last email I received was from NVC and not the embassy, it means the file is still with NVC and that I should contact NVC. She said the embassy sends a congratulatory email if the file is already with them but since I've received none yet, it means it's still at NVC. She said it's the embassy that chooses the date of interview but NVC still has to be the one to email the applicant once a date has been set. That selecting dates is based on priority date, not whether if one had their case completing review first. I think I got it. My friend's priority date is 2008, mine is 2010 but I got CC first so I thought I would get the interview date first or at least at the same time as she would because I didn't take the PD into consideration. Thank you for the encouragement and info.
