Hey where does it state you have to get the medical done three weeks  prior to the interview? I don't see it anywhere

Go to the Aziz Med Center site (http://www.amcpk.com/amc/frmAppointment.aspx).

Select US Medical exam, and a pop up will come.

Thanks!

I completely agree with @KaurN. Medical can be done anytime between the p4 receipt date and interview provided you plan the POE within 6 months. Medical should not expire during your POE. The 3 weeks rule may be applicable to certain medical centres and could be country specific though I don't see any sense in this.

For medical appointment- appointments are made over phone so I don't see the question of medical centre asking for hard copy of P4 letter. Sounds stupid actually. You have to carry it at the time of medical exam.

Just to clarify: P4 is NOT required to make medical appointment.  Beneficiary must have hard copy with him or her during medical exam.

REALLY????!!! this is worrying me now. DO we have such a rule on USCIS website?

2 hours ago, KaurN said:

I would definitely question that. When my husband scheduled his medical he didn't even have the appointment letter in hand yet. He was able to schedule it without it and then bring it to the medical appointment.

When I was scheduling my wife's medical in a month advance, the lady on the phone suggested me to wait as she said the embassy prefer / ask for up to date records. I said but the medical reports are valid for 6 months then she said I'd still not do it until two weeks before the interview.

@Mia12392

All medical centers in Pakistan say the medical exam should not be done more than THREE weeks prior to interview.  I will book appointment for my wife on August 3.  Which is exactly 3 weeks from interview.

Medical reports have six months validity for Pakistan as well.

She just suggested you. Does that make it a rule to have a week or two before? Did you ask what's the reason behind it? And if it has to be updated why doesn't it expire immediately after the interview date? What does validity mean? What if for any reason someone's interview gets rescheduled for a month later..does that mean the person will have to spend $200 again in order to get the updated records???

Oh dear, so many questions. :)

I agree with all the questions you have. Yes, she suggested only but in a good way so I agreed with her. I still think it doesn't matter when you do it. They just want P4 letter when you go for the medical. You have the medical done and it has the validity  for 6 months so don't worry :)

Haha..Just wanted to understand the logic behind. I don't see any. 😊😊

Moreover, I was wondering why didn't Delhi medical centre say anything like that as people come from remote locations here just for the medical...and later on for biometrics and interview.

I spoke with NVC.  Only the embassy can clarify as to when the medical should be done but must wait to communicate until they have the case.

If medical office suggests, it must be a recommendation from the embassy and should be followed.  As to when it should be done and how long the medical report is valid are two different things.

Embassy will put a stamp on the visa as to when medical will expire and the beneficiary must have POE before such date.

The more you wait to get the medical done, the longer validity you have for your reports. In case you have your interview rescheduled, you can still use it.

As far as the POE is concerned, you will have everything in the sealed envelop. As long as the envelop has the sealed, it doesn't matter if something is expired.

Our case was still in transit to the embassy from NVC when they already suggested that we should schedule my husbands medical already, and we were able to do it easily. It could possibly be a country specific thing.

And I guess there is no harm in getting the medical done just three weeks prior but it would give you a peace of mind to have it done already and make sure everything is okay. :D

I have a question here..please if anyone can answer. Let's say I get my medical done exactly THREE weeks before my interview. Now, just a day before interview I get a notification that due to some technical reason my interview has been rescheduled for a week later. In this situation the medical report becomes 4 weeks old. Will they accept it? Or I will have to go for a medical again and get the interview date moved for 3 weeks?

The point is, there is not a common timeframe for every country. For some it could be specific. As suggested by @KaurN, getting it done as suggested by medical centre would give you peace of mind. Our didn't insist on specific number of weeks so we got it done.

There is nothing right or wrong here. 😊😊
