Also I am not sure why the medical center would make you wait just three weeks before the interview because as far as I know the medical report is valid for 6 months.

I don't understand that either.  I would prefer she gets the medical ASAP after P4 arrives just in case additional lab testing is required.

I would definitely question that. When my husband scheduled his medical he didn't even have the appointment letter in hand yet. He was able to schedule it without it and then bring it to the medical appointment.

Just to clarify: P4 is NOT required to make medical appointment.  Beneficiary must have hard copy with him or her during medical exam.

I completely agree with @KaurN. Medical can be done anytime between the p4 receipt date and interview provided you plan the POE within 6 months. Medical should not expire during your POE. The 3 weeks rule may be applicable to certain medical centres and could be country specific though I don't see any sense in this.

For medical appointment- appointments are made over phone so I don't see the question of medical centre asking for hard copy of P4 letter. Sounds stupid actually. You have to carry it at the time of medical exam.

In order to get a clarification on the whole wet signature ordeal I called NVC this morning and spoke to a very nice rep named Heather. She told me that wet signatures on Affidavits of support are no longer required and scanned or faxed copy will suffice.

She directed me to this link which clarifies everything :https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/news/ink-signature-no-longer-required-on-affidavits-of-support.html

A signature is still required but the beneficiary attending the interview does not need to take an original AOS to the interview they can take a copy. This probably pertains to people like me who got a checklist to bring a corrected AOS to the interview.

Excellent stuff @KaurN. Thanks for bringing this up again and clarifying. I have been saying this....not for myself but for other few for whom it may not be convenient to get the original on time. The whole idea of this change is to reduce the inconvenience and delays caused to the applicants. The cost of Fedex priority may not be pocket friendly for everyone just for one piece of paper which is not even mandatory in original. 👏👏

I went to the post office yesterday to mail the original AOS to my husband and it was gonna cost $60 to get there in time before the interview. So I decided to clarify if the original was even needed. I am glad I checked.

So happy for you hun..my husband didn't have to do that as he is coming himself with all the other documents they may or may not ask. Fedex cost if Minimum $70 from DC to New Delhi. Imagine if someone is living in remote areas, it would cost more. All the embassy needs is one original signature on AOS. So in the cases where they were submitted electronically or not submitted at all, one has to provide original signature. Not for corrected ones or with additional proofs if income. Like in my case we had submitted everything to NVC except 2016 tax return. So we got email from embassy that they need it during interview. AOS is not even mentioned.

The URL says it's valid for one year, but the medical examination done in India for US immigration is valid for 6 months only. It may be country specific. Yes it right to check with NVC as well as the your medical centre. Medical centres will have more accurate information. It's their daily job.

Hi Guys, few questions...

1.  NVC website says to make appointment for medical as soon P4 arrives. But, the medical center performing the examination states it can be only done 3 weeks before interview date.  Medical for my wife will also be done in Islamabad at Aziz Medical Center.  Any suggestions?

2.  I submitted AOS with wet signature to NVC in the packet.  She will have a photocopy of the entire packet with her.  Will this suffice?  Or should I reprint AOS and sign it again and give her that copy?

Thank you.

Congratulations to everyone who have received their interview dates/P4.  Best of luck to those waiting.

Scan Date:  4/19/2017

CC:  6/21/2017

Medical:  Early August???

Interview:  August 24, 2017 at 8 AM (called NVC, P4 expected in 24-48 hours)

Hey where does it state you have to get the medical done three weeks  prior to the interview? I don't see it anywhere

Yea the 3 weeks condition is pretty random. Meh. I just got an appointment about 20-21 days before interview. Better to have some padding days.
