For some it only takes a day, but there are many instances, where the interview is scheduled weeks before you receive P4 letter. It is best to expect the worst case scenario when you are trying to give the estimate to someone. That was what I was following. I personally received P4 letter in 3 days after it was scheduled, on Saturday early morning EST too. Some may not be as fortunate as us that they receive the P4 letter right away.

The interview schedule depends on the availability of the Embassy/Consulate and how NVC prioritizes the cases and also how many cases are pending waiting for interview with NVC.

 

I would suggest you to analyze the timelines of people from your country's portal and try to gauge how long it took them to receive interview date. That is your most likely scenario for the wait time for receiving interview schedule.

Have my interview on 17th July, was thinking of getting it done much earlier as I involves lot of travel. I have only read that your medical exams should be within 6 months from your POE date, otherwise have not heard anything...

 

any info in this regard would be great!

I think medical exam can be done anytime between your interview date and once you receive P4 letter.
