hey everybody!

im from germany and i had my stateexam as a clinical laboratory technician almost a year ago. i work in a genetic lab at the moment and will probably get a good letter of recommendation! i also have some other letters of recommendation back from where i was in school and doing internship in labs!

does anyone know if i have a chance to get a job as a lab tech? is it easy for trainees form germany?

I can't help with your specific skills, but if it is a profession which requires certification/passing certain examination, you might be disadvantage if you are not "certified" in the US.

On the other hand, if your profession does not require special certification to work in US (like my field), if the employer has the position and they like your qualifications, once you have your work authorization, you are good to go.

Nina, you'll probably just need a certification, so you'll just study for the test and pass it! :) Try to google eveyrthing about it. The education from Germany has the same standards as the American, so no problem, just getting certified may take a while (if you are lucky you don't have to take classed, but anyway, it will not take too long!). A German nurse I know also just had to get the American certification and was good to go!
