My husband came in on April 26, 2017 thru Newark airport. We had pre paid our immigrant fee right after we received the visa in Brazil (about 15 days before his travels).

Does anyone knows how long does it take until the green card arrives in the mail?

Thank you

Ali

After POE, expect it within 1 year, but realistically you should see it from a week up to a month. Your husband becomes an LPR the same day he crosses the border, and can use the CR-1/IR-1 visa in his passport to prove he is legally allowed to work and live in the U.S. to employers and COs.

In our case, POE was on April 29, 2017 at JFK, New York and green card arrived last week on May 26, 2017.

Thank you so much for your replies. I contacted USCIS and they said it has been delivered already on May 18th. We have been checking every single day and we did not receive it. The USCIS officer told us a tracking number, which we took to the post office and it says it was delivered.

Now I'm panicking here! Can you please share more details on how yours came?

In a large package or a regular size envelope?

Was it signature required?

Thank you so much for you help

That is very odd.  It arrived in a white regular envelope.  A signature was not required and it was addressed to both of us: the green card holder name first and right below, the petitioner's name, and then the address.

I'm furious. I research and there is so many cases like mine... it blows my mind that the USCIS would not request signature to deliver such an important document. I would gladly pay more to ensure that I my docs and personal information is floating around and now to request a new card (lost not by me) I need to file a I-90 and pay another $540... and wait up to 6 months.

That's a huge bummer. So in theory someone could be out there walking around using your GC (assuming it was stolen).

I'm really shocked they don't require signatures either. I'm going to watch like a hawk for ours now once we're in the States....

I'm also in shock that nobody advised here on visa journey about such issues... google "Green card delivered but not received" and you will be amazed in how many people describes the same issue as I'm having.. I'm assuming this is a scam to steal the green cards... I never had any other letter or piece of mail disappear before... very odd to be the green card... I also thought it could be the mail man delivered to the wrong house but the tracking number says it was delivered on the 18th, 12 days ago.

I think it's definitely related to a scam if this is happening in mass numbers. I would imagine that a real GC sells for $$$ on the black market.

They should require signatures. It's absurd to think how much effort they make people go through to get this and then have it just floating around in mailboxes all over the US. I've had mail stolen when I lived in Brooklyn. There was a serial package thief in the building. The USPS also shrugged and said it wasn't their problem. Stolen mail is actually really common. Again, so why don't they just require the signature?? The mind boggles....

Exactly! It blows my mind... I asked the immigrant officer over the phone what is my guarantee that this won't happen again to the second that I'll apply and pay for it (again) she said to get the tracking number and have the USPS hold it so you can pickup in person... I have suspicions that mine didn't even got out of the truck for delivery... this really sucks I'll tell you

If you suspect theft by a postal worker, I'd report it. Stealing mail is considered a crime, even if it's something minor. Don't hold back if you think you might know who took it.

The replacement fee for GC's is off the charts too. $540?! Just insane. I try to keep my calm about this process but having to pay for a GC that was stolen/lost and not even your fault is really angering...

How can I prove it? that is the problem... I only saying it was stolen by a scam involving the post office because of the amount of people that went thru online and the circumstances. We have been stocking our mail delivery every single day...

I'm sorry that happened to you.  That's stressful.

My POE was in Houston,TX May 10th. I received my GC in the mail May 26th. Regular envelope, thought it was just a letter, addressed to me and my husband.

I hope you get it straightened out without paying extra money
