Hello. I am currently filling out the I-129f petition for my fiancee. I was recently a student and have not yet had an ''official'' job besides babysitting for my older sister. What would I fill out in the employment bit? Would that decrease the chances of the petition being approved? My father is going to be our joint sponsor for the affidavit of support.

I would simply put that you were a student. If needed use attachment and just state student, where, and time frame.

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

 

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

I applied for my fiance's K-1 at a time where I was virtually unemployed. I just listed previous positions and internships I had held up until that point and stated that I was a student. My dad served as our joint sponsor. We got approved just fine. 

Removal of Conditions

08/14/2019: I-751 mailed
08/20/2019: I-751 delivered to Phoenix
08/26/2019: Check cashed 
08/29/2019: 18 month extension letter received 
01/08/2019: Biometrics completed
 

Naturalization

07/29/2020: N-400 submitted online

12/21/2020: Interview date

No financial information is required to be sent with the I-129F paperwork. When it is time for the UK fiancé's interview, your cosponsor (the dad in this case) will send the I-134 and supporting financial info along to your fiancé to bring to the interview. They will only want to see the info from the dad. Your unemployed status does not matter provided the cosponsor passes the test. After marriage when you file for AOS, they will want to see the financial info from both you and your cosponsor (if you are continuing to use them). If you were a student, answer honestly that you were so.

Say student or unemployed. It won't hurt your chances.

 

They are looking to see if you are eligible to bring a fiancé over.

US citizen...check

Met in person...check

Free to marry....check

Intend to marry within 90 days....check

Your employment consideration is not part of the petition step.
