Thank you. What do you do if your processing time exceeds the extension letter? I am so out of the loop on this, haven't been paying attention at all, didn't even realize it's been almost a year, until we applied for naturalization a couple days ago.

So if you are planning on traveling, renewing a license, working...anything like that you'll need to schedule an Infopass appointment and get an i551 stamp. It'll be your valid documentation for all the basic needs for another year. Depending on your local office you could be fighting to get an appointment so it's recommended to try and get one earlier than later. Some people say you won't get a stamp more than 30 days before your letter expires. Some have gotten one already tho. But it'll be the next thing you'll need if you dont get your gc before the letter expires.

This is true. I went for my InfoPass appointment to get an I-551 stamp and they turned me away because I was a week early. At least over here in Charlotte, they'd only entertain your request for a stamp if you're within that 30 days of your NOA expiration date.

Luckily the USCIS field office is only a 5-min drive from my office....or I'd have been soo annoyed.

Yes, you can use your phone in infopass appointments

Are you certain?  I cannot tell where you are from.  Your timeline is not filled out. Have you been to field offices in SF?

I thought I had an extra infopass confirmation sheet hanging around.  I don't.  But it should say on your confirmation sheet what you can and cannot bring.

I have been to 2 USCIS  offices in 2 locations and both denied your cellphone.  One had lockers available the other did not.  People were turned away, security pointed to the Infopass computer outside the USCIS office and told the people to reschedule at another time.

However, I do know that some locations are permitting you to enter but won't let you use it.

Hope others from SF chime in.  Why not just ask nicely at your N-400 if they could kindly give you the stamp?   It's rather obvious your a I-751 and N-400 combo applicant.  I would at least give it a try.

Hey everyone!  I don't wanna sound like a jerk, but there is a separate forum on VJ dedicated to N-400 form. This thread is about removing conditions and it's a little bit hard to go through pages and pages every time trying to find replies which are actually relevant to the form I-751 and the progress of your cases. I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings.

There is this one and its not bad...might not have all the discussion your looking for but its a start, right?

It's not super popular as you will note by the date of the last post.   However, to answer your exact question.  No.  I haven't seen one.

Why not start one?

I'll follow it. ;)

Humm, I'm not sure I understand what it is that your wanting to find or wanting to state.  I re-read your original post and it's a little confusing, too.

Are you trying to find discussion about the N-400?

Or is it that your trying to say the ROC forum seems to have too much discussion about the N-400,  ie. the threads go off topic? And you wish people who have q & a about the N-400 seek a separate forum?

If its the latter, I get you about threads/forum getting hijacked.  A moderator's work is a difficult one; not one I want.

Usually the threads with a date in the title give better indication about movement, but not always.  Sometimes, in these monthly threads, people get chummy (cuz they're going thru this together) and go off tangent a bit.

Hope this helps answer your question, and yes, my message was intended for you.

Hi! I think Lettyana was saying that people waiting for their i-751 cases (who filed in June 2017) come to this message board to see what people are saying about their i-751 cases, and lately it has been a lot of n-400 case talk on here. I agree with her that it is a bit frustrating sifting through all of the n-400 messages. I'm a silent lurker on here, and I check it every single day because I'm also waiting for my June 2017 i-751 case. When I apply for my N-400, I will be looking for an appropriate forum to silently lurk on for that (haha), so we should make a separate one, so this one can stay on topic :)

What processing times should we be taking notice of? My case went to Vermont initially but has been transferred to a local field office. The processing times on the USCIS website are 13-17 for Vermont but 16.5-36mths for field offices!
