Yeah... This is how it used to be - 6-7 months.. Seems like all this nightmare started sometime in 2016-2017....I don't know - it's just unspeakable and really sad...

In Reading everybody's posts I decided to check into my application to see where was standing because my notification said in February that my application was sent to my local office in which I did not know where it was so I called the 1-800 number to talk to somebody personally. She was very friendly and very informative and enlighten me that my extension letter that was sent out July 7th expires on July 7th not September 24th when my green card initially expired. I am planning a trip back to my home country in August for my daughter's wedding and if I didn't decide to be nosey to find out about my application I would have been stuck in my home country. Which is not a bad thing..lol.... So now I have to make an appointment for an infopass for my i-551 stamp for my passport that I had no idea I needed ... Does does anybody know if there's a cost for this .. I looked online and I can't get an appointment for 3 weeks

My friend lives in Columbia, MO. In 2016 it took 7 months, with RFE,  to get her 10 years green card...

It won't cost you anything  - to get I-551 stamp. Just make a copy of your  green card-  it can be taken/kept by USCIS in  exchange of I-551 stamp.

Good luck with Infopass!!!

How long does the appointment take ? I have to drive 3 hours. My GC is expired anyways

My local Office has like 7.30 a.m: 7.45 a.m.: 8.00 and so on... I think they all like that - 15 minutes for an appointment.

P.S. I realize how it feels - we would  have to drive about 2 hours for 15-20 minutes  Infopass.. :(

It's an in and out thing.  Be sure to bring all your docs with you.  Extension letter, expired GC (be sure to scan it--front and back--before you go for your appt), your passport and info pass appt letter.  Just like when you went for your biometrics you cannot bring in cellphones, food or drink.

I think the majority of the CSC filers have not been touched yet or are just beginning to be processed. A lot of us got the electronic notices that our cases were transferred to local offices. Some of us still haven't gotten a biometrics letter yet.

Personally, we just received a notice about a month ago that our old biometrics information was being used. That was our first physical letter, besides NOA1, since filing in June. And then a month prior to that we got the electronic update of our case being transferred.

np. People are speculating a bit about the nature of the transfers, so it may or may not be anything. I've seen when transfers do happen a physical letter gets sent to the applicants as well. But we only found out about the transfers because when you looked up the case status on the website it says something about the case being transferred to a local office. So checking it online is the only place you'd get that update.

Some people have had their status updated to "card is being produced". But I believe those were only VSC filers. So yeah, I'm expecting another 6-8 months for our case. Just still waiting.

Thank you. What do you do if your processing time exceeds the extension letter? I am so out of the loop on this, haven't been paying attention at all, didn't even realize it's been almost a year, until we applied for naturalization a couple days ago.
